My first morning in Africa I felt the Lord say, “You hear me — but oh how you could hear me more. The noise of the world will never cease, but together we can control its volume.”

3 days in Togo woke something up in me that has marked me forever. The colors, the people, the pace — they reminded me what it felt like to move through my days awake instead of rushing past them with a scattered mind.

Then in Paris, a simple thought met me as we walked the streets: chase the color.

So I did — green one day, pink the next. I started noticing them everywhere: a chipped door on a side street, the stripe on a street sign, the rim of a café glass, a stranger’s coat passing by in the Lourve.

Little flashes of color turning into small invitations to stay present. I felt more awake and aware than I had in a long time.

And I quickly realized it wasn’t “travel magic” giving me rose-colored glasses. But instead it’s what happens when I finally slow down enough to really look + notice where God has me.

I didn’t want that to stay overseas, so I brought this practice home with me. “Color walks” are the highlights of my days now — pick a color, step outside, and pay attention.

The first day back I looked for yellow, and I felt the Lord say, “and orange too.” I thought, “that’s weird but okay, let’s see what ya got.”

And sure enough - yellow & orange fire hydrants, road lines, and construction zones were around every corner - markers of things being rebuilt. It felt like God whispering, “I’m doing new things here too.”

Isaiah 43:19 says, “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”

The colors became signs — not decorations, but direction. Not distractions, but declarations.

God refining, God building, God making new — and inviting me to see it.

In Genesis 9:13-15, God set a rainbow in the sky
and told Noah, “I will remember my covenant.”

Color was a promise before it was anything else.

So chasing the color isn’t about chasing a feeling. It’s about seeking reminders of a faithful God — because the God who remembered Noah is the same God who remembers me (and you).

Let this be your invitation to chase the colors, too. taken in Lomé, Togo by @_elizabethcox

Chasing the Color: Part Two
January 11, 2026 | Pink in Paris

On our last day in Paris, my color was pink. 💕

What started as a gentle invitation — chase the color — has become a way of paying attention to my actual life.

Pink felt different than green — less familiar, more unique.

Flowers outside a shop, a painting in the louvre, a biker’s hat along the seine — small flashes saying, “don’t miss this.” 🌸

It shifted something in me — to walk like someone expecting to be met instead of someone just passing through.

Between the cafés and crosswalks, I felt it again — the sense that looking was becoming listening.

It reminded me how God used color to tell Noah, “I will remember you.” A promise you could see with your eyes.

So maybe chasing color is just that — my way of practicing to remember, seeking the God who’s already near.

I’ll keep chasing the color, so I’ll always remember that the God who remembered Noah is the God who remembers me too. 🕊️ taken in Paris, France by @_elizabethcox

It was the summer of both/and’s. Endlessly grateful for the people that carried me through it. ❤️‍🩹🦋

A season marked by the question of “how is this real?” — both in shock and in awe. From turning 35 to hearing “it’s not cancer.” From holding the 2012 @ukmbb national championship trophy to holding the ones that make me “aunt lizzie”. From sunsets that stopped me to my sunshine gals inspiring me. From weekend trips with long distance besties to nights with childhood besties that made us feel like kids again. From being a Lexington resident for an entire year to forever missing Charleston. (…and a million other things that will remain safely offline — because let’s not forget that what any of us see on this screen is never anyone’s full story nor should it be. 🫶🏼)

It’s been a season of joy and sorrow like I’ve never known. When people ask, “how are you?” my honest answer lately is, “I’m starting to see color again” — and for that, I’m deeply grateful. ❤️‍🩹

Fall has always been my favorite and idk about you but for me & my house, I’m welcoming it in with open arms. *cue the Nancy Meyer soundtracks* 🦋🤎🍂 by @_elizabethcox

Chasing the Color: Part One
Green in Paris | January 10, 2026

On my first day in Paris, I felt a quiet invitation: “chase the color.” That day, the color was green. 💚🍀🪴🚛🚦

So I started noticing —
a door I would’ve walked past,
a street sign shining in the rain,
glass bottles on a café table,
a stranger’s coat brushing by.

Nothing dramatic.
Just ordinary things becoming small reminders to stay awake.

And I felt more awake and aware than I had in a long time — not because Paris is magic, but because attention is.

Somewhere between the bridges and sidewalks I realized what was happening — looking was becoming listening.

Not listening for a loud voice, just for the gentle nudge that says, “I’m here. Don’t miss me.”

It made me think about the first time color meant something in Scripture — after the flood, God set a rainbow in the sky and told Noah, “I will remember my covenant.” 🕊️🌈

Color was a promise before it was anything else.
A visible way God said, “I see you. I’m still here.”

So maybe chasing color is just my way of practicing that remembering — learning to notice the God who’s already near, already at work in the middle of my ordinary days.

So, I’ll keep chasing the color —
a way of remembering that the God who remembered Noah is the God who remembers me too. 🌿 taken in Paris, France by @_elizabethcox
