It’s brave to tell the truth.

This is what my friend @jessaconnolly empowered me to do last weekend at her and her @goandtellgals team very first @bravecharleston 🥹 Giving me room to teach the message of my new book ‘FALSE PEACE’ that I realized just last weekend is a message of real BRAVERY, because…

It’s brave to love others, especially those who dehumanize you or disregard you cause you disagree with them or are different from them.

It’s brave to pray for those who you struggle to love or who are hard to love.

It’s brave to look at hate in the face and not let it change you but remain rooted in love.

It’s brave to proclaim the Truth of Jesus in a culture that wants to distort the truth or create many different truths.

It’s brave to be like Jesus.
Loving, kind, merciful, forgiving, honest, gentle, compassionate, consistent, and intolerant to injustice.

To all who attended BRAVE 2026, thank you for having open hearts and minds to receive the message God had me share with you all and thank you for worshipping in Spanish alongside me 🥹

I really loved being a part of the very first @bravecharleston and getting to travel with @_joyholmes see some of my seminary sisters and friends there made it so much sweeter 😭🤍

Thank you for the amazing pics @_elizabethcox 😍

I didn’t realize how tired I was until someone asked how they could pray for me. And then I couldn’t stop crying. 🥹

I had been asking God for direction in some big areas of my life, but I hadn’t realized how little space I was actually making to listen.

Between raising kids, leading worship, writing, working, and everything else, I had filled nearly every quiet moment with noise.

And then a woman prayed something over me that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.

I’m sharing the story and three simple ways I’m learning to create more room for God’s voice in this week’s Miracle in the Mess.

If you’re navigating uncertainty, feeling overwhelmed, or desperately wishing God would just tell you what to do next, I wrote this one for you and I’d love to send it to you.

Tell me: Are you someone who loves silence, or do you fill every quiet moment like I do? ⭐️

I’m still trying to process @bravecharleston ❤️♥️

Mainly because I cried the whole time. I genuinely didn’t expect that. But Thursday night, tears I had been holding for ages started to fall. And I kept finding myself weeping.

Not cute tears glimmering down my face. Ugly, fat ones. My face scrunched. My eyes puffy. My heart pouring out of my face.

I’m still trying to put my finger fully on why.

I think it’s because I’ve been stuck in that place where I know God’s promises but I’m waiting on His provision. And the in-between place, especially as a leader, is a hard place to be.

I’ve wanted to give strong direction and haven’t known where to point.
I’ve been longing for a burning bush. Heck, I’d settle for a whisper on a mountainside. But I’ve been met mostly with silence or a sense to keep waiting. To be patient.

I walked into Brave and felt God meet me. His nearness was more than enough. He is sustainer, provider. If clarity never comes, He is enough.

So I prayed with a woman who tapped me on my shoulder. It felt like such a holy moment that, by chance, was photographed (1st photo by @_elizabethcox)

So I sang at the top of my lungs when @niccimorelli started leading us in worship. Singing beside my sister @reneedollenmayer who has inspired me ever since she was in my coaching cohort.

So I cried when @hosanna.wong preached. Then I met her and tried to smile. She was the kindest human ever. I’ve followed her for years from her poetry, and wow. What a Word from that woman.

So I bawled through the Shepherds Circle and talked to @jessaconnolly. As always, she cheered me on. I for some reason didn’t feel like I deserved that. Gotta think more on that later.

As a woman who worked in ministry for over a decade, stepped out because of exhaustion, “church hurt” (or w/e were calling it these days), and having little kids, then stepped back in, I’m so grateful for the coaching team at @goandtellgals I’m a part of and the way this ministry has now cranked out a conference.

Because we all need a good cry in a safe place.
Every leader needs to know they’re not alone.
And every woman needs great, powerful, Godly women in their corner.

The first picture is my favorite. Because before anyone stepped onto the stage at @bravecharleston the sermon had already begun.

I’ve been struggling to find the words to explain what we experienced at Brave this past weekend.

There were many different speakers and stories, and yet there was such alignment that could only have come from the Holy Spirit.

But the moments that impacted me the most didn’t come from the stage. It’s what happened everywhere else.

The feeling that someone had prayed for you long before you walked through the doors. You knew that someone had anticipated your arrival, made room for your presence and I’m sure we each thought we were the most important person in the room.

The team wasn’t serving or fulfilling an assignment, they were offering a gift of unreasonable hospitality. It felt like an overflow from hearts that had spent a whole lot of time with Jesus.

And somehow in the middle of being cared for so tenderly, we were fiercely challenged and encouraged.

I came to Brave hoping to hear a word from the Lord and it was so clear. Not just in the messages shared by everyone that held a microphone, but also personally in prayer with @cherylluke who confirmed some things in a prophetic way and with an authority that spoke to areas of my heart that I had closed off for a long time.

It’s going to take me some time to process it all.

But what I do know is that I’m leaving with a feeling of being so profoundly loved by God and cared for by His people. What a beautiful, holy gift. And what a calling to go and love others in the same way.

Well done @jessaconnolly and the @goandtellgals team. So blessed that I get to know you and be your friend. I know the Father is so pleased with you. Now let’s go launch a book! Let’s go 🤍

To say that Dolly Parton practiced what she preached would be quite the understatement. We are forever marked by her tremendous legacy and will do all that we can to also live by these powerful words just like she did throughout her 80 iconic years of life. ✨

Let this be your sign to join us in Dolly’s favorite place — Nashville — this November for our 2026 TWDS Membership Retreat. 💕 Doors to apply close on September 15th!
