This year, I’ve been taking on personal projects that felt completely beyond my abilities. At the start, this certainly was, but I committed to failing repeatedly in my attempts at making this be the piece I saw in my head. I’m happy with how it turned out, and more importantly, that I didn’t give up on it. You don’t really know what you can do until you do it. Thank you @maxgausepohl for the unbelievable sound design, you made this click. Most of the animation was done in @tvpaint with some coloring in #photoshop and #aftereffects. Thanks also to @michaelmattesi and @hopperrace for helping with literally every step of this.

From a pitch that has yet to find a home, but so much fun to make. Voice over by yours truly :). Roughs in @tvpaintanim (the best for it), color in AE.

One of my favorite things to ever have animated. Done @weareneonzoo under the direction of @e.l.y.s.e.k.e.l.l.y and the art direction of @a.chewie

One of the lovely sequences I got to animate and color for this UNF project about childhood vaccinations with the incredible @weareneonzoo s @e.l.y.s.e.k.e.l.l.y and @a.chewie

I was asked to make something special for @tvpaintanim s holiday message this year, and they were incredibly generous in saying “make whatever you want” with a few creatively unobtrusive caveats. I was even able to bring on my love and collaborator @hopperrace to make the music and design the sound (with a couple of extra voices from me🫣).
I can’t begin to say how much I love using this software and how much I love the people who work at this company. They are kind, compassionate, and passionate about the work we all do. I hope you say hi to them at one of their many event booths throughout the year. It’s worth it. Have a lovely holiday season, and enjoy the faeries.
Swipe through for some extra special stuff that didn’t make the cut. 💕

In partnership with Legends Animated (@legendsanimated), join NewFilmmakers LA (@nfmla) at 1pm PT on Friday, August 2nd for an online conversation with the independent animation studio Neon Zoo (@weareneonzoo). We will explore the intersection of animation, impact storytelling, and documentary with Neon Zoo and some of their favorite filmmakers and artists: Naghmeh Farzaneh (@naghmeh_farzaneh), Joumana Ismail (@joumanaismail_), Eric Larson (@eric.animates) and Ana Mouyis (@anamouyis). Learn about what it's like to carve your own path in the animation industry, and discover how these artists have built unique careers in (and out) of the industry, creating work focused on meaningful change. The virtual panel will be moderated by Drysen Carsten (@drysencarsten)
