Get someone who looks at you like I look at @megcarnie when she is bossing my life admin and helping me set up a sustainable budgeting model

First wins include getting a very stressful, protracted ulez charge that had run up to over £600 amidst the chaos of this year back down to £43 for two charges. 💪🏽

I’m also being trained in having pots in a Monzo account so I’m less likely to go rogue on the avocados, ubers and beer

The bandwidth in my noggin has expanded tenfold just knowing Meg is there to help with any headachey grown up stuff. My adhd and a tough year have meant I got seriously out of wack adminwise but now we are on our way! Thanks Auntie Meg

Follow meg at @megcarnie and look out for announcements about her new business as well as all the cool stuff she already does in the music biz

She is literally my Hero

A new dawn started for me last week when I started my first ever proper batch of tutoring days at @elstreescreenarts college just around the very same corner where Indiana Jones, Eastenders and Win Win was made.

The students are 18 years old and are on a 1 year course that gives them a pretty impressive, hands on overview of the film and tv industry.

Every time I have engaged with young people in a learning setting (a large handful of times over the last couple of years at most) I have come away absolutely buzzing. And especially delighted by the innate brightness and curiosity of the weans, even though there are moments when I feel like Ferris Buellers teacher. Anyone? Anyone?

I’m glad to say I’ve got a few interesting pots in the kiln at the moment after such a barren few years, but whatever happens next I want to be able to facilitate teaching creativity to young people, and continue to try and get projects like @itsmusicdad going until I can literally no longer do so

I’m really enjoying the new more comedic podcast episodes I have started making with my promising ward Robin (@trumanshirley)

They are recorded at his Georgian apartment which is also home to Mrs Kibber, Sir Allan Crisp and lord knows who else.

Listen now where you get pods by searching for Finding Nico and hear us chatting over a trippy dinner, bickering like an old couple and being silly geese….

You might also consider following me at Patreon.com/findingnicothepodcast where you will get early access to new eps and the odd lovely slice of bonus content

You will also be helping this ole buzzard continue being creative in a tough old world

So do Cheer Up You C***s

As it is #worldsuicidepreventionday Ole Music Dad over here thought he would tell you he has started a conversation with the wonderful team at @grassrootssp about getting involved with their charity and partnering with them on music event based stuff in Brighton and beyond in the near future.

I love ‘being there’ for the grassroots music community of Brighton, and as someone who has lost a couple of very good people to suicide, as well as being someone who has had to use services that have kept me from getting any further than ‘dealing with suicidal thoughts’ (which are very very unpleasant but much more common than is openly discussed), it is a no brainer for me that I try and help spread the word of their excellent resources.

The @grassrootssp website, e-newsletter and instagram feeds are all packed with useful information and pathways to educating yourself and others on helping to reduce the number of people we lose every year.

Music students, open micers, pals and followers @itsmusicdad always has his ears open to anyone struggling, even if its just to listen and maybe point you towards someone that can help with whatever is troubling you

Lord knows we all need it from time to time

Go and give Grassroots a follow and check out the brilliant Stay Alive app

A few weeks ago I did a lovely joint busk on Brighton Seafront with local legend @augustradioproject for his youtube channel

At the same time I recorded our strums and chats for the @_finding_nico_ podcast

I think its the most happy, wholesome podcast i have ever put out

I talk about my @itsmusicdad project and my dreams of getting more singing work as @stupidheartsclubmusic

Go have a listen by searching for The Finding Nico Podcast where you get your pods and have your faith in humanity restored

In other news I’ve had about 8 paid gigs since this day and I now busk more confidently thanks to the amazing book that Ben has written (see slide 4)

Its called Busking Is The Answer

I agree with that sentiment and in fact the last two weeks it literally helped me afford food. Thanks Ben ARP and S❤️C 4Eva

Please drop a problem in the comments for me to slide under our ‘Problem Uncle’ Sir Allan Crisp’s door. One short paragraph maximum please.

He likes me to write your problems down and put them in a sealed envelope. Which he says is ‘because pondering the flimflam of life must be met by the same sense of ceremony one might associate with a monarch responding to the grasping bleats of a childrens charity’

His words not mine.

Sir Allan, will be responding by leaving me a deeply considered telephone voice message on his outer-landline receiver (pictured: right)

This response will appear in the next episode of the Finding Nico podcasts ‘Cheer Up You C***’s’ special

NB: If you look carefully you will see the corrupted form of my sidekick @trumanshirley (aka Robin) in Allans glass orb.

All episodes of CUYC are recorded in Robins edwardian Brightonian apartment block, and Sir Allan is far from the only curious character in there-

Be sure to listen to the next one to see who else you can spot in between our gutsy attempts to talk each other off the slippery ledges of lifes frustrations

It all adds up to an exciting and less self-absorbed whiny new era for the Finding Nico Podcast!

Today’s budking daymaker was this fabulous feathered gentleman who stayed with me a while and gave me a fiver. People are the number one reason busking is almost always worth the effort.

If you would like to book @stupidheartsclubmusic just call my name and I’ll be there
