An everyday object can become something else entirely when we learn to look at it differently.

Gargi Sharma’s Experiments in Stillness won 2nd Place in the Still Life category of the Professional (now Series) competition at the 2026 Sony World Photography Awards.

Through photography and styling, Sharma gives familiar forms a new visual language. Carefully constructed compositions turn the ordinary into something open to interpretation, creating a quiet space for reflection and allowing subtle details to take on new significance.

A visual artist from India, Sharma trained in photography and communications. Her practice brings together intuition and technique to create images that evoke emotion and meaning.

Portrait of a lily🤍
