POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This summer, I was given the opportunity to visit Israel on the first BBYO trip since October 7th. Our group of teenagers carried more meaning than we knew, and the experiences I was given will impact my life for many years to come.

July 5th was a day that I want to share with all of you. We began our morning at Moshav Netiv HaAsara, a community very close to the western border of Israel and the Gaza Strip, that was impacted greatly with the events of 10/7. We met with a woman, a mom, who recalled her panic when she was unable to reach her son, hearing bombs and gunshots just outside her own home. She took us through the Moshav, allowing us to view what had been restored, and what had remained from October 7 as an act of remembrance. We entered a shelter that still had the remains of an elderly woman’s blood and the bullet holes from where she had been shot— a moment I will truly never forget. We went further through the Moshav towards the border, where they have a “Path to Peace” wall that we were able to put ceramic tiles with peaceful messages on. This wall serves as a hopeful place in a dark and scary reality. And then,we left the Moshav and went to Sderot, where we saw the destroyed police station, an act of violence against those who want to help the most. We went to the parking lots of cars that were left from Israelis who went to the Nova festival and were unable to return— an inexplicable feeling of a place that has remained the same for 3 full years. We went to the Nova site, reading stories about the incredible individuals whose lives were taken far too soon, and whose stories need to be heard.

The emotions felt that day, and so many others during my trip, are difficult to understand yet so important to talk about. After the indescribable 3 weeks I spent in Israel, the horrific events of October 7th feel so much closer, despite today being 3 whole years later.

Today we remember the lives lost, the lives saved, and the ways in which we have continued to show up for one another throughout the past 3 years.

Jude and I hope to see you all this evening at the JCC from 7-8:30 for an incredible program with TribeTalk.

All my love,
Maya ♥️ by @_gmrshlichim

WHAT IS UP EVERYONE!!!! This weekend, we had AMAZING Regional and Chapter Board Trainings!!!!!

We kicked off our awesome weekend Friday night, with a super meaningful Shabbat service that marked the beginning of our year together as a regional board!! We then had a fantastic Saturday listening to and learning from our incredible staff and the fabulous @azagodol and @bbyomazkirim!! We learned about all things BBYO like engagement, program planning, and recruitment while also mastering how to use our resources! We ended our work day with a delicious dinner, followed by a thrilling escape room, and finally a meaningful closing Havdalah and song sesh at the hotel.

THEN, Sunday was spectacular with Chapter Board Training!! We had a super productive counterpart time and led a breakout session on how to incorporate Judaic aspects into our every week programs (oooooooh aaaaahhhhh)!!!

Overall, we had the BEST weekend and can’t wait to have the best year together!!!! by @_gmrshlichim

Wow. We did it.

From impactful service projects, events remembering our heritage, hours of planning calls, steering groups, insane convention spirit and everything in between, this year was one to remember. Even though the programming was nothing short of extraordinary, it was the experiences that shaped us most.

We laughed until our lungs gave out. We led like the world depended on it. We loved like never before. But most of all, we showed up time and time again, leaving our mark on surrounding communities and enabling Jewish teens to take part in the beauty our organization has to offer. We truly are, THE FUTURE.

As much as there were many factors benefiting our incredible year, we’d like to give two special shoutouts:

To the Staff- Jami, Max, Naomi, and Isabel: the four of you are the most hardworking people we know, and we couldn’t be more appreciative. This year has been transformed into one that was phenomenal, simply because you believed in twelve teens. Thank you for taking a chance on us, we couldn’t have done it without you.

To the 24th Regional Board- Mesa, Emarks, Isko, Sammy G, Gmoney, Simon Says, Jsolly, Giggles, Garf, and Ermie: when we were elected a year ago, who knew this board would transform into lifetime friendships being built. The ten of you have the most insane work ethic, and we couldn’t have asked for better people to work alongside. Whatever the future holds and wherever you end up next, please remember that you always have a home here.

Although this may be the end of our era, we know it isn’t the end of yours. If you all are what’s to come, then damn is the future bright. Our wish for you is to continue to be a welcoming space for all to take part in. Continue lighting the way for generations. Just continue being amazing. ❤️

So, for the very last time,

Respectfully and Fraternally Submitted with an Undying Love for JBA BBG #2514, Ometz AZA #2553, the Great Midwest Region #61, the International Order of the B’nai B’rith Girls and the Grand Order of the Aleph Zadik Aleph, we forever remain:

WHAT A CONVENTION GMR ‼️‼️

We couldn’t have asked for a better way to close out the year. 🤟🫂 Although, didn’t just come together… we cherished. We cried. 😭 We laughed. 😝😝 But most of all, WE LOVED ❤️

Our Friday night service showcased how music 🎶 has the ability to connect us across towns, let alone continents. 🌎🌎 Separates demonstrated that experiences have the ability to unite us instead of divide. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒Our steerers, coordinators, and leaders did a more than PHENOMENAL 💯 job piecing this weekend together (and of course @gmrsganim) to show what strength and passion look like on the basis of accomplishing a greater purpose. 🌟🌟 And of course, our magical Havdalah. As the hundreds of us sang in unison, we saw how powerful our movement truly is. We will always be: THE FUTURE. 🤞🎉

But how can we forget?? That Sunday, we elected the 2️⃣5️⃣th Regional Board—shoutout our amazing successors @_mayafreedman_ and @judekleinman ‼️‼️ We are so proud of you both and can’t wait to see you carry on the legacy💗🥹

This isn’t goodbye just yet. Only a recap. 😉😜See you sooooooon 🙃📕📘✡️ by @_gmrshlichim

LEGACY.

“For 80 years and 80 more, BBG is what we adore.”

We’ve all heard this expression. Whether it’s at cheer circle on Saturday nights or someone describing how BBYO has impacted them, the meaning holds true.

But, how do continue to embrace the ideals we believe in for years to come? How do we make sure the next generation of BBG’s who fill our shoes have the same sense of pride being apart of this community? Quite frankly, the answer is simple: legacy.

As today marks BBG’s 82nd birthday, I think about the thousands of dedicated, resilient women who have carved their path for us to lead today. We are their leaders. Yet, I continue to wonder what is in store for the girls who will follow in our footsteps for years to come. Will they be just like us? Or, will they strive to reach for the stars on the basis of what we’ve laid down for them to build up?

At the end of the day, it is our job to make sure our heartbeat continues beating. Our flame burns brighter than ever. But most of all, that our heritage will remain intact and always thriving.

So to the girls I love most:
יום הולדת שמח ❤️

As Shabbat winds down and we enter Havdalah—the moment of separation between Shabbat and the week ahead—I want to share a bit about this past week.

I had the incredible opportunity to represent BBYO at the StandWithUs International Conference in Las Vegas through the Kenneth Leventhal High School Internship.

From inspiring sessions and engaging workshops to powerful keynote speakers, I was immersed in conversations about history, advocacy, and the importance of standing strong for Israel.

One story that truly stayed with me was Luai Ahmed’s—his journey from anti-Zionism to becoming a strong ally of the Jewish people. It was a powerful reminder of how education and dialogue can change perspectives. I’m excited to bring these lessons back to GMR—strengthening our chapters’ connection to Jewish identity, history, and current events.

Want to learn more or get involved with StandWithUs? Reach out—I’d love to help you get connected 💙

Shavua Tov!

Fraternally,

Seth Pearlman 23rd regional Shaliach & StandWithUs 2025-2026 Kenneth Leventhal Intern

WHAT A WILD RIDE ‼️‼️

This past weekend, we attended IC in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: “Home of Brotherly Love.” 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Let us tell you, not only did we have the greatest time, but love sure did surround us. ❤️

We cheered 🎉 we laughed 😜 and we cherished together. But most of all, we made HISTORY 🔔🗒️

From hyping our region up (#spiritcupwin) 🏆 bonding and forming meaningful friendships 👯‍♀️ leading Shabbat services in front of thousands of people (shoutout Seth ‼️‼️) and electing our very own Mazkirah to the International Board 🌎 this weekend was nothing short of monumental.

We are so excited for all that’s in store for the rest of the term 🥰Make sure to keep Regional Purim (March 4th @ the JCC) on your radar— so much to come ✡️✡️ by @_gmrshlichim

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the lives lost and the stories that must never be forgotten. In honor of that, we had the privilege of hearing from Sharon Pitluk Silver, who courageously shared her family’s Holocaust story.

Through her words, we learned not only about unimaginable loss and pain, but about resilience—her family’s resilience and the resilience of the Jewish people. ✡️ Sharon’s testimony reminds us that remembrance is an act of strength and responsibility, and that by sharing these stories, we ensure they live on with future generations.

Thank you, Sharon, for trusting us with your story and for sharing it with teens from across the Chicagoland area and beyond. 💙 by @_gmrshlichim
