Thank you everyone who attend the first official noisy business roundtable yesterday! We can’t believe you guys came to hear us & our panellists speak about topics myself and Ren are always gabbing about in private.

Massive thanks to Naz, Shaniya and Habiba for their participation and for being the thinkers we so desperately need in this online landscape.

Thank you to Laura for the photography (@nnebugho)!

Thank you to @housmans_books for the space!

We’ll be back in November for our next event! by @_haaniyah_

A cable television programmer discovers a mysterious broadcast called Videodrome, which appears to feature real acts of violence and torture. As he investigates the source of the signal, he becomes drawn into a conspiracy involving media manipulation, hallucination, and a disturbing transformation of his own perception of reality.

David Cronenberg’s body horror classic examines the relationship between technology, entertainment, and human desire, imagining a world where television can reshape both the mind and the body. Blending psychological horror, science fiction, and surreal imagery, it remains one of the most influential films about the effects of mass media and sensory overload.

These screenings will be introduced by film editor for @thecoldmagazine - @valeberghinz and presented with a selection of voyeurism themed readings in our basement bar between 7.30pm-9pm by @msmarymorgan and @_haaniyah_

Certificate: 18
Saturday 12/9
Film at 5:45pm and 9pm
Readings at 8pm

A Poet with a Camera: The Cinema of Sarah Maldoror is at the BFI from the 2 September-3 October. Curated by Maldoror’s daughter, Annouchka de Andrade, the season explores restoration, cultural memory and the endurance of political art in an era of flattened aesthetics.

Essayist, film critic, and pop culture encyclopaedia, Haaniyah Awale Angus (@_haaniyah_) is the north London-based writer whose work you need to be reading.

Her witty, insightful writing largely focuses on film, internet culture, body image, and, rightfully so, her work can literally be found everywhere (British Vogue, AnOther Magazine, Stylist Magazine, DAZED, Refinery29, VICE, PAPERMAG - the list goes on).

It is therefore an absolute honour to have Haaniyah join our series ‘The Films That Got Me Into Film’ in which she shares her love of Star Wars, thoughts on 27 Years Later and talks which film she wished she could have seen on the big screen.
