She’s only 2🌸 My little Nugget! My granddaughter 🩷sitting in her car seat, feet barely touching the edge, and when asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she said:
“I want to be an astronaut… so I can go up and grab the moon.” Not the stars. Not something small.
The moon. She said it like it’s already hers. Baby, go get it. We got you!

Happy Birthday, Kaysean @_iamkboogie

The birth of this one human being changed the entire trajectory of my life.
From the moment you arrived, every decision I made for the next 32 years and still moving forward was touched by you. You influenced where I lived, the children I went on to have, my profession, the friends I chose, and the lifestyle I committed to.

You sparked my first real drive in life: the hustler, the provider, the woman determined to shape another human being the right way and then do it four more times.

You strengthened my spirituality because I had to pray over your soul daily. You made me intentional. You taught me to be unselfish, to be a healer, to surround myself with the right influences because everything that touched me would touch you.

You were the best baby, the best toddler, the best teenager, the best young man, and now the best father. The best sibling. The best grandson. And most importantly, the best son.
I cannot think of a single day I have ever been disappointed in you. Your mistakes were never the kind that brought worry. They were the Kaysean kind, the kind you learned from instantly and never repeated.

You have touched so many lives with your generosity, kindness, and quiet strength.

And in this season, my prayer for you is simple:
Go after everything you want for yourself.
No more question marks, only exclamation points. I want drive, focus, and boldness, not just so we can be proud of you, but so you can be proud of yourself.

Such a humble young man, but this season I want you to puff out your chest a little. Add some stank on it. Put respect on your own name. Stand in the heart of the fire because there is nothing normal about you.

Especially not today.

Do your big one, baby. Because you can. And you do not need anyone’s permission.

Most people think I’m crazy for giving my children gifts on Mother’s Day, but the truth is, they are the ultimate gift to me.

Ani, Kaii, Rasheed, Najée, and Kaysean…are the rhythm of my life, the breath in my joy, and the reason I rise with purpose every single day. They’ve shaped me into the woman I am, strong, loving, relentless, and full of heart.

I Tricked them into thinking we were going out to a special dinner, that I was going to meet them at once I got off of work.

Surprising (most of) them with SZA and Kendrick Lamar at Gillette Stadium was just a small reflection of the love and gratitude I carry in my soul every moment I get to be their mother. Though Kaysean Woods wasn’t there (he’s not the biggest Kendrick fan), his presence is always felt in every beat of our family moments.

These five are my celebration. My legacy. My light.

I’ll spend every day, not just Mother’s Day, pouring love into them the way they’ve poured life into me.
