Thinking about that time me & the boys got absolutely smacked by the Icelandic weather on the last day of one of the most epic treks in the world. Anyway…maybe we take that one on again in 2027 😎 by @_jimmyshaw

Plan for adversity before it arrives.

I knew the final four miles would be tough. So I made a plan: one mile of prayer for each member of my family.

It gave me purpose when the miles got hard.

You can’t avoid every challenge. But you can prepare for how you’ll face it.

At the pumpkin patch with Mrs. Shaw & her EL students. Always so fun to see Beth in her element with her kids. She is an absolute celebrity to these families who are all still learning English. Way to go babe! by @_jimmyshaw

Life wasn’t meant to be watched from the sidelines.

It’s easy to spend our lives watching other people chase dreams, take risks, embrace challenges, and live great adventures.

We cheer them on. We admire their courage. We tell ourselves that someday we’ll do something like that.

But someday has a way of becoming never.

Here’s the thing: You don’t have to be the fastest, strongest, or most talented person in the room.

You just have to be willing to get in the game.

Sign up for the race. Take the trip. Pursue the dream. Do the difficult thing you’ve been putting off.

You might fail. You might struggle. You might discover you’re capable of far more than you ever imagined.

But you’ll never find out from the sidelines.

Stop watching life happen. Start living it.

Build Resilience. Live the Adventure.

Yes, I’ve been on the road for basically a month straight, but I’ve been hustling behind the scenes. I’ve been spending all of those sleepless jet lagged hours 🤦‍♂️ rebuilding the Discipletrek site (so close to done) & preparing to launch several new projects. I keep getting asked “What’s next after State 50?” Well, a lot actually. Stay tuned. 😎 by @_jimmyshaw

7.5 years ago I completed my first ever 10 mile run on this trail In Minneapolis. I was only two weeks out from my very first half marathon & I remember thinking…”I wonder if I have what it takes to finish a half.” Fast forward 90 months & I returned to that same trail yesterday for my training run 12 days before state 50. There has been a lot of life between this two pics; but these days as I am living with a front row seat to the radical transformation of so many lives through our Discipletrek adventures, I’m grateful that this dude on the left was crazy enough to pull the trigger on a seemingly insane goal. Thought of the day—it’s possible that you are only one seemingly crazy decision away from altering the trajectory of the rest of your life. If that’s you today, let me be one of the few voices to tell you to absolutely go for it! by @_jimmyshaw

13.1 miles. 50 states. A whole lot of life lessons along the way.

What started with one seemingly insane decision became a journey that has shaped the way I think about consistency, resilience, adventure—and doing difficult things.

In a few days, I’ll run State 50.

I’m realizing the finish line isn’t really the point.

The person you become on the way there is.

One more state. One more finish line. Let’s go.

After 23 long days on the road, I’m finally headed home! This adventure spanned 13 flights (one of them 20.5 hours 🤮), 4 rental cars, 8 hotels/airbnbs, 2 very disappointing college football games 🤦‍♂️, & a very powerful relief project (thanks again to all who donated 🙌). I really don’t like stacking travel like this, but I had a full month booked out before the Nepal landslide & we just couldn’t ignore that need. I still have quite a lot of travel coming up over the next 6 weeks before my Romania teaching trip in mid November, but fortunately it’s all stateside & the longest trip is 5 days. I’m very excited to get home for church tomorrow & that I’m scheduled to be in Tulsa for the next 6 Wednesday nights to lead our Acts Bible study…if you’re local, we’d love to have you join us. I’ve spent a lot of time these last 3 weeks looking up for direction & we’ve been working on several very exciting new projects which we will roll out very soon…stay tuned. by @_jimmyshaw

Had an awesome day of meetings in Syracuse with my buddies @jordancarter__ & @addspears & capped it off with a 45 minute lecture on the topic of “understanding when you are” at the @abundantlifedotchurch School of Christian Leadership. I am processing through some exciting new projects that you’ll all hear about soon enough & I’m so grateful to have awesome friends with deep wisdom & insight like Jordan & Addison to speak into my vision as I’m bringing new ministry initiatives to life. I’ve known both of these dudes for nearly two decades & I love that we get to partner together on so many bold kingdom projects.

Scriptures says “in the multitude of counselors there is safety,” but not every voice gets to speak into your life & shape your vision. Launching new ministry initiatives is a bit like starting a fire in the wild with a flint. There is more work to be done before you start than most realize & then great care has to be taken in the first moments to protect the fragile embers…not enough air & it suffocates…too much air & you kill it. The baby fire needs just the right amount of steady breath on in to bring it to life. Seasoned fire starters do this like it’s second nature, but overzealous rookies can’t seem to figure it out. The metaphor here is obvious. We desperately need to journey long with seasoned men & women of God who can breathe life into our vision. I’m grateful to have a few of those relationships—it is like a cheat code for my life.

Alright, now hopping in the car to drive back to Newark to catch my flight down to Georgia. Looking forward to more ministry meetings & a couple of relaxing days with Beth, who is flying out to join me this weekend 🙌 for the next leg of my trip. by @_jimmyshaw
