Last night, I lost one of the most important people in my life. He went by a few names such as The Killer, Hosie Lee, but I always knew him as dad. My dad was so full of life and joy. You would’ve never guessed he would be 81 years old next month. He lived his life to the fullest and never let anything stop him. Most importantly, he was a great dad who always thought of me. Whether it was bringing back sweatshirts from a trip to sending me cards and stuffed animals; he always found ways to let me know he loved me. I will truly miss getting our pedicures together, those random calls where he would say “this is your favorite daddy but I’m your only daddy “, among many other things we did together. I will continue to make you proud even though you are no longer here. He always told me “you’re my number one horse even if you don’t ever win a race”, and I’ll always remember that. I’m forever grateful I’m his daughter and will especially miss hearing him call me his ace boon coon and pride and joy. Rest in peace daddy🩵 by @_katlynnn_21

So a few people have encouraged me to make a weight loss journey post because my progress has been inspiring. I was hesitant at first because I have not lost all the weight I have wanted to but I’ve been reflecting on how far I have come. It also requires me to be vulnerable in some aspects and I wasn’t ready at the time. But now I am.
In May of 2021, I decided to try losing weight one more time. I have always struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. My weight caused a lot of issues mentally and physically. When I started off, it was not the healthy way of doing it. I was eating a 1200 calorie diet or less. I saw progress at first of course, but that did not last long. After some time, I kept hitting plateau after plateau. It was very discouraging because I saw how fast other people lost weight, but mine came off much slower. Even though I was feeling defeated by the scale many times, I kept going because I knew I could do it this time. In 2022, my weight loss was even more of a challenge because I was grieving the loss of my grandma, and food was always my comfort. I replaced food with the gym, and it has helped me so much since then.
Since my weightloss was still much slower than expected after two years of dieting, I spoke with my doctor. I was later diagnosed with PCOS in May of 2023. PCOS causes a variety of issues, including difficulty losing weight due to insulin resistance. I was relieved that I found out what the issue was to my weight gain as a kid and why it was hard for me to lose it now. The only issue was, that just meant my journey looks a lot different and harder than others. I went on medication to help with my PCOS and weight loss, but that ended up making me severely hypoglycemic and passing out almost every hour. My doctor gave me another solution of starting a stimulant to aid in boosting my metabolism, which is when my progress skyrocketed.
January of this year, I made a few changes in my personal life. After those changes, my weight started coming off much faster. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, especially my resilience and determination along this journey. Last two pics are me now 50+ lbs down 🥳 by @_katlynnn_21
