This month, I produced and directed my first ever music video. I can’t lie, I was a bit nervous because I’ve never been on a music video set 🥸 turns out, I was worried for nothing LOL!

I reached out to a good friend from college, who makes some dope experimental music under the name Guard1on (@guard1on). I resonated with their hauntingly beautiful sound, and felt it aligned with something I must try to execute. The experience has exceeded my (unusually high) expectations.

It’s been nothing short of a pleasure working with such lovely human beings that brought this music video to life. Reminds me of my purpose as a filmmaker. It was healing, romantic, and most importantly, a blast. Lots of love and laughs shared on set as we swatted away pesky mosquitos. Forever grateful.

Stay tuned for Guard1on’s music video to Sounds of a Lovers Abyss!

A bit late to the party but I wanted to give 2025 a huge shoutout because she deserves one

When I graduated from undergrad, I didn’t expect the rest of my 2025 to pan out the way it did—and for that I am indescribably grateful to be a part of a village full of inspiring minds. I’ve learned when in filmmaking you’re bound to make mistakes, you just have to do it with the right people, and thankfully I have.

I’m starting to understand what’s aligned for me and I cannot wait to see what 2026 has in store ♥️ Let’s continue to celebrate the small wins because they matter too.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Happy new year and to many more with you guys! ✨

P.S. I would tag everyone but I would be sitting in this one spot all night but you know who you are by @_kennedybell_

#kathleencollins

She’s truly my biggest inspiration in film and I regret finding out about her approach to writing and filmmaking after I’ve published my honors thesis on Black representation in film.

She brings up spectacular points on how Black filmmakers and writers shouldn’t aim to explain the Black experience to an internalized white audience. We can be normal and ordinary; not mythological creatures. by @_kennedybell_
