Over the summer, I had the absolute pleasure of girl-bossing with a fabulous group of ladies for the day while shooting an historical hair barrette revival. Marcelette aims to achieve the romantic, vintage look of the classic finger wave with its “leave to set” design. So thankful for this opportunity. it’s the last weekend to see Solastagia, my first solo exhibition🦋 words like “surreal” and “bittersweet” circulate through my head on these buzzy, end of the season days. Putting this show together was a practice in trust, a hilarious dance between having the exact measurements of a dream and finding the time and tools and support to make it exist in real life. I’m grateful for those who know I can do something before I do. Here’s a short list :)

@supersecretprojects for the space, but more importantly for asking me a year ago to stretch into this new self.
@hartmarlow for being my installation hero, for translating ideas from my brain to screen to wall.

Saturday’s opening was a wonderful night and it was so great to see so many familiar and unfamiliar faces! @_kohar solo show is not to be missed! Kohar is a master cyanotype artist and it shows. 💥 The term “solastagia” describes the feeling at the intersection of eco-anxiety and nostalgia — a feeling of longing for home while we are still at home.
🦁 Excavating symbols from Armenian mythologies & proverbs, forms from heirlooms, and imagined landscapes of liberation, Solastagia interrogates this feeling in diaspora, when the observation of environmental degradation on one’s ancestral lands is compounded by the political erasure of its guardians still present on its soil.
🌞 Using alternative camera-less photography techniques that harness the sun’s light to create images, the work in Solastagia represents a collaboration between the artist and her environment. 🎞️They are images that are created, not taken.
💕All proceeds from this show will be directed to Armenian and Palestinian aid organizations of the artist’s choosing. taken in Beacon, New York by @_kohar

small works by strangers😶‍🌫️ my cyanotype is hanging out with some talented company at this @supersecretprojects show. 💫
My piece, Լուսաբեր (light bearer) is a sunprint named for the double-headed eagle in the center of the frame, an ancient Armenia motif of protection and light, a seeker of truth and a reminder of duality. Behind this are four individual memories of portals, cast from different corners of the world.🚪
