We started off the year at the Reading Room with Daydreams by Frida Roubles and Lasse Mouritzen, a transoceanic research on site-specific art, which materialised as a collective exploration of Lado Sarai with nine participants on 7 January, followed by the artists’ presentation on 9th January to a larger audience.
The workshop took place in Lado Sarai, through all its crevices and dense bylanes, with its intricacies and histories. The group speculated on what daydreaming may look like in this neighbourhood, how we might write our experience of spaces and how narration and imagination shift these experiences and our sense of belonging.
We moved between a public park, an unutilised DDA land repurposed as an evening sabzi mandi and the office terrace – thinking beyond binaries of public and private, about precarity and belonging. Quick exercises of writing and performing built individual responses and cursory speculations on how land was being utilised and by whom, and what histories and logics of production it propagates. We are thankful to Srijan, Ansh, Aayush, Kanika, Malavika, Gyanwant, Gayatri, Hariom and Nandini for joining us and for their contributions, conversations and sharings.

At the presentation, Frida and Lasse expanded on the previous iterations of the project in Copenhagen, Mexico City , Vienna and now, New Delhi and how each location had its own intertwining dream-logics and spatialities, and how daydreaming itself, as an act, is so culturally rooted, monitored and inhabited. Thanks to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion that followed!

Inviting participants to daydream with us. To dream of possible/impossible performances that are corporalized in the body as well as in text. Which dreams are there, latent, in the spaces that surround us? Which words describe those dreams? Which movements? How to think about space together, from the body and the words? Is there a difference between the corporeal and grammatical syntax of the world?

We kindly ask for your help and contribute to our research project entitled “Daydream - a transoceanic research on site-responsive performance.” In this research, we are curious to explore performative stages between city and dream. Unfolding as a transatlantic research exercise between Copenhagen, Mexico City, Vienna and Delhi, we will work with site-responsive practice to explore the city, exceeding the idea of the city as a site into a state of mind. We hope this will question the role of sites in contemporary artistic practice and the correlation between performativity and documentation.

We would be honoured if you could join us for a one-day workshop on January 7th, 2026, at the FICA Reading Room (F 213, E - 2, Second Floor, Nai Basti, Lado Sarai, New Delhi, Delhi 110030) from 15:00 to 19:00. Please write to info@ficart.org to confirm your participation.

In the workshop, we will do some exercises in imagining possible performances. These exercises also aim to think of ideas in an open, collaborative and interdisciplinary manner. Just bring a notebook and remember to bring warm clothing for being outside, as we will be outside most of the time.

We are looking forward to seeing you,

SYDHAVN TEATER præsenterer THE RITES OF WRECKAGE AND WASTE ✨ 23.09 — 25.09.2025

First steps of this collective and enriching journey into the history and movement of soil, wreckage and ruins in Sydhavn.

Just before the holidays, we spent several weeks diving into the old landfill, Sydhavnstippen, which continued Sydhavn’s movement into the ocean of Kalvebod between 1945–1973. Bricks, ruins, and waste from the old city lie beneath us, but resurface in the wild-growing landscapes — opening up new urban ecologies, alliances, and future visions, entangling questions of memory, nature preservation, and urban development.

Through workshops of singing, collecting, moving, writing, and listening — alongside meetings with locals and archival research — this has become a collective exploration and open-ended research with Tippen. The process has generated vocal harmonies, choreographies, objects, and texts, which re-assemble the rituals and rites of wreckage and waste.

We are looking forward to continuing the journey in August and presenting the performance work “The Rites of Wreckage and Waste” at @copenhagenarchitecturebiennial and @sydhavnteater KIN Festival here at Sydhavnstippen on August 23–25, in collaboration with local partners: @karens_minde, @sydhavngenbrugscenter, and Sydhavnstippen Naturpleje 💚🌿

Happy to present with such talented people at the Art and the City conference in Nice.
Our panel, Enacting repressed urban Ecologies consisted of three presentations, first on Performative Urbanism Lab and our work on “Embodied forms of memory work - Imagining Regenerative Futures” by @samsonkristine, secondly “Envisioning futures with a haunted landscape” about the urban dramaturgy in @sydhavnteater presented by @_lasseemil. Finally, @andreolli and Louise from @til_vaegs presented their ongoing work in the Mirroring Places project, engaging with the archeology of memory in both Lundtoftegade in Cph and in Bixiga in Sao Paulo✨
Such a pleasure presenting as a group and across our various practices ✨#performativeurbanism #urbandramaturgy #memorywork #places #artinthecity #embodiment #performance #art ✨ taken in Nice, France by @_lasseemil
