I think the reason I’m so picky about music and sometimes a little judgmental when it comes to art 🤣 is because I spent my whole childhood in a room surrounded by percussion, with teachers and dad who would stress me the hell out if I didn’t practice. I even bought my own xylophone lmao.

I really believe that studying classical music, dance, or art in general shapes you in a way that social media, modern school, or fast-learning bullshit just can’t. It teaches you patience, discipline, attention to detail, and how to really listen. And I think that’s something I sometimes forget when I’m around people with completely different musical backgrounds and ways of learning.

Classical music is a huge part of what shaped me and my musicality, and I’ll forever be grateful for the process and for all the teachers who pushed me along the way.

Sometimes your dreams take you to different places and down different paths, and you have to learn to accept that. Otherwise it feels like you’re stabbing yourself in the heart.

Some gigs are made for some people, and others are made for others. We all have a different purpose in this world. The hardest part is finding it.

And you only find it by fucking around, taking chances, and having the balls to try everything you can to succeed.

Back to Belgium today for a few more weeks. Looking at our last 2 months / 2 years of memories together. Distance makes you get out of your comfort zone and find solutions to be reunited in the same house with your lover without having to leave her again.

I woke up to an unexpected surprise in my mailbox !!! Geez, from small city in Belgium called Liège to being recognized as part of the world-class drummers I can only feel proud of myself and of my parents, who always pushed me to dream bigger and go further ! I honestly don’t even know what to say, lol ! There are moments sometimes entire seasons when I question my artistic path. We live in a world that’s moving so fast that it’s easy to get lost in your own head, to lose your creativity, your motivation. We’re living in a time where so much noise gets mistaken for greatness and people don’t always recognize the difference between what’s truly good and what’s simply mediocre whether it’s drumming, music, dance, painting, or art in general and it can make you want to give up. But receiving a letter like this reminds me that there’s still hope, there are still people who value dedication, excellence, and genuine recognition.

This letter gave me more hope than I can put into words.
