One could say I’m the daughter of two, as Maya said it best, phenomenal women.

The egg from whence I came was created in my grandmother’s womb.

It was her heartbeat that set the tone for the music of my life’s dance.

It was in the safety of her being that the entirety of my mother was held until she was ready to begin her journey.

I am as much a child of my mother’s as I am of hers and in the mirror, I see them both.

I see my mother’s determination.

I see my grandmother’s grace.

I see the kindness of their eyes and the beauty of their open-heart.

I feel their generous wisdom and I feel their healing love.

I also see me.

I am the daughter of Claudia but also of Beatriz.

I am my mother’s thoughtfulness incarnate.

I am my grandmother’s poetry in motion.

I am the embodiment of their joy, kindness, and devotion.

My strength has been shaped by their purifying tears.

My resolve built following the blueprint of a well-practiced resilience.

My curiosity a result of their own and my dreams a testament of their fierce Love.

With that I humbly ask,

How do you expect me to walk this earth with anything other than my head held high if I come from such a beautiful lineage of Queens?

If I’ve learned anything in life it is that there are two types of pain.

The pain of going for it, and the pain of not.

I happen to be a fan of the former. You know, the pain that comes from throwing your hat in the ring and not having clear answers from life as to the ‘what’, ‘how’, and ‘where’ but doing it anyway,,, aaaand in the process of doing so, running into a a couple of walls as you find your way and you deepen your listening and sharpen your discernment.

Failure? Guaranteed.

And that’s enough to deter most people.

Most people do everything in their power to avoid this type of pain. Following your soul’s calling is not for the faint of heart and if you’ve been even remotely paying attention, you know that that soul came here to grow.

That means it came here to make you uncomfortable.

To push you.

To put you into situations where you will question yourself, your choices, and your abilities. Situations where you can’t tell up from down and wonder what you did wrong and why life is mad at you. Situations that will pull you, stretch you, crumple you, and turn you into goo.

If you’re doing it right, you will taste many layers of ‘low’ in your exploration of this path and often times will feel like you’re in the spin cycle of the washing machine.

There will, however, come a point when you realize that regardless of how bad it’s been, you always seem to make it through. That no matter how dark or how crazy things may seem, if you treat yourself kindly and stay present to what’s in front of you, whatever the flavor of f*ckery you may be experiencing that moment, like everything else in life, will pass.

More importantly, that it’s precisely these moments of chaos and uncertainty in their darkness and confusion that ironically illuminate the aspects of your being that need more love and attention.

The clarity that you get from dancing with your shadow is the fundamental first ingredient in the next step of your soul’s evolution. All that is required is for you to allow it to be the case and to honor what comes through.

So yeah, it hurts. But yeah. It’s worth it.

Because for every new level of rock bottom you hit, (cont'd in comments) by @_monagreen_

I’d been hiding.

I’d been hiding and I could no longer continue to do so—my soul wouldn’t let me.

I’d been willfully ignoring the her call to come out of a comfortable, safe, and small existence and to be visible again.

I’d been hiding from my truth, I’d been hiding from my greatness, I’d been hiding from the depth of my pain, and I’d been hiding from my real desires and longing for more.

Truth is, I’d been hiding from myself.

I’d been hiding in my relationships and behind the noble nature of my work just to satisfy my ego’s urge to be ‘good’.

I’d been compromising my truth by making excuses. Excuses for myself, excuses for other people, excuses for circumstances that were under my direct influence and control and yet were conveniently outsourced to keep me comfortable where I was.

Excuses.

Excuses to not honor my knowing. Excuses to not fully feel.

Excuses to not take responsibility.

Excuses to help me confirm time and time again the maladaptive beliefs that I developed as a child to make sense of the world and all the pain, dishonesty, fear I saw and experienced around me.

Anything to help me justify the strange comfort found in the familiarity of my suffering.

But can you blame me?

Can I?

Nah. I’m too old and wise enough by now to know better.

Truth is, I’m no longer worried with being ‘good’. I don’t want to be ‘good’.

I want to be free.

I want to be free so that in that very freedom I get to experience my inherent goodness and laugh at the fact that I ever felt the need to follow anything other than my heart’s guidance to see it and own it.

I want to be free.

I wanna be free to be wild. I wanna be free to be as powerful as I know I am.

I wanna be free to be messy, to be raw, to be fierce and to be fearlessly vulnerable. I want to create beauty wherever I go and I want to shine bright like a thousand suns.

I wanna pray with my women, I wanna honor the great mother, I wanna curse like a sailor, ride a motorcycle from Europe to Mongolia.

I want to become a wife and mama, gently hold my nieces hand at the park, share my gifts with the world, lose myself in the eyes of my man, and be fucked open to God, and later (cont'd below) by @_monagreen_

I received and wrote this about trust, faith, and courage. About leaving the dark before you’re sure. Truth is, I wasn’t sure why when I did.

Now she’s gone, and it reads as hers. The case falling open early, the wide air, the sky that holds her.

Butterly medicine every day for the two weeks she was transitioning. Before that, she was building a program called Chrysalis. (Of course she was.)

❤️ by @_monagreen_

Six months. One extraordinary group of women. The Commons has closed, and I’m already dreaming about what’s next.

What keeps calling me is something light touch: a membership where you gather with good people, get into the nitty gritty of your numbers in an approachable way, and take one achievable step at a time toward getting your financial world together. Five years of facilitating this transformation, one thriving community, and a very clear vision behind it.

Would you join? Comment IN or DM me and let me know what you’d want it to include.

One of the many ways life speaks to me is through animals. This week, deer medicine’s been particularly potent.

I’ve had two encounters in the last four days while on my walks and this was the video my iphone decided to highlight as a memory… today, the day of the Buck Moon.

Needless to say, when the Universe lays it on that thick, I listen.

So, I sat with the buck spirit today and he gifted me a poem and a new perspective.

I’ll share the poem in my next post but the message came through loud and clear:

The work, is learning to exist in the discomfort of friction without the extra weight of a loaded story or the convenient but short lived relief of a pointed finger. (In any direction)

It means staying in our own responsibility, agency, and compassion and it forces us to decide what’s ours to work with and what’s not.

If we stick to the fundamentals, follow our moral compass, and labor to act from that place, things will inevitably sort themselves out.

Happy full moon, lovers.

Special shoutout to @archietms for catching this magical moment on film. taken in Topanga, California by @_monagreen_

I’ve been thinking about family, because I think we get it wrong.

The idea of family comes heavy with cultural programming, with assumptions and projections we inherit before we’re old enough to question them.

Some of this serves us. Some of it doesn’t.

We’re taught that family is blood or what happens through marriage. That it’s obligation, that it’s the role assigned to you before you had a say.

Oftentimes, especially if you come from cultures like mine, we’re told that blind loyalty is required, that deference is owed simply because of position or age.

We’re taught to give away our own discernment, our own power. We’re taught to excuse the inexcusable and we carry these inheritances as though they were the truth, as though duty were the same thing as love.

It isn’t.

We put a premium on family for belonging because historically, our survival was dependent on it and we’re told that that’s where belonging lives.

Shared DNA, lineage, shared history… these matter, they’re real, and they’re worthy of reverence. Yet in my mind, if we just consider that, the story we tell about family is incomplete.

I can’t help but wonder if when we talk about what we expect and want most from ‘family’, what we’re actually talking about is kinship instead.

Kinship is an incredibly important thing. Kinship isn’t made of genetics alone. It’s made of relationship, of consideration, of clarity, of sincerity, of respect. It’s what happens when people decide to see each other and keep seeing each other, to move past the projections, past the inherited wounds, into something honest and real. Respect and loyalty are earned through how we show up for each other, not because of emotional hierarchies and a sense of obligation.

In this chapter of my life, I’m witnessing something beautiful. After spending most of this last year closer to ‘home’ than I have in the last 20, my blood family has become my chosen family.

When I think of who I want to be with, I want to be with my people and now, more than ever that includes the family I was born into.

The beautiful thing? That’s what I was sitting with at the window that day in Portofino. (Cont’d in the comments) taken in Portofino, Italy by @_monagreen_

We are living in a culture obsessed with the question of how.

How to move faster.
How to scale bigger.
How to optimize.
How to extract more.

But almost no one is asking the questions that matter most.

Why are we doing this?
What exactly are we doing?
And who are we becoming in the process?

AI has forced me into a profound ethical reckoning.

Yes, it can help me reach more people.
Yes, it can save time.
Yes, it can increase efficiency.

Aaaaand at the very same time, every query draws on enormous amounts of energy and water on a planet already stretched beyond its limits so this isn’t simply a question of
productivity.

It is a question of relationship.
Relationship to time.
Relationship to money.
Relationship to the Earth.
Relationship to our own humanity.

What does it mean when our highest aspiration becomes finding faster ways to extract from a world already in ecological and psychological debt?

What are we racing toward?
And what, exactly, are we afraid of being left behind from?

To be clear, I’m not anti technology.
I’m pro consciousness.

I believe innovation without wisdom is dangerous.

I believe efficiency without ethics is reckless.

And I most certainly believe that in this case, before we ask how, we must ask why, what, and who.

Because the most important question may not be what this technology can do for us.

It may be what it’s doing to us.

Honestly, at this point, I think the grandmothers should be in charge.

What do you think? Are you wrestling with this too? #ethicalai #thefutureisourstobuild #ai #waterbankruptcy by @_monagreen_

Who would have thought an ordinary Sunday by a waterfall in Slovenia would lead me to sing to my grandmother Beatriz. Sharing this so you can get to know her, at least a little, through song. ❤️ // Quien diría que un domingo cualquiera al lado de una catarata en Slovenia me llevaría a cantarle a mi abuela Beatriz. La comparto para que la conozcan un poco, al menos en canción . ❤️ by @_monagreen_

Take it in stride boo, take it in striiiiide.

I get asked about my faith a lot, (especialy these days 😏) mostly by people trying to place me somewhere that makes sense to them…

Christian. Mystic. Pagan. Something else.

The truth is, i don’t and I’m not interested in fitting.

I believe in God. Deeply. Not as a concept alone, but as something lived, experienced, explored.

I have much to learn still but after decades of prioritizing this aspect of life, I have come to find that if your beliefs don’t make you more compassionate, more open, more human… I have questions. And by ‘I have questions’ I mean ‘You should have questions’. Lol

Because spirituality, to me, is not about identity. It’s about how you walk in the world.

So no, I won’t give you a clean label but I will say this:

If your version of God makes you smaller, apathetic to suffering, rigid, or more judgmental… it might be time to revisit it. by @_monagreen_
