Improvement is the name of the game , if you as a member of your section, team, unit etc are not actively trying to make and be the difference that needs to happen then you have failed, majority people think leader are made when the get stripes , wrong it starts day one at your unit , and it never stops , never get comfortable and complacent, leaders take care of your troops, train them , send them to school and develop them to be great .
Stay lethal, stay productive, stay professional and proficient, one of my leaders told me this a long time ago"if this is your last training event you ever did , before you had to go do it foreal with live rounds how do you think you’d do?" Take it serious troops, you never know when you’ll get that call ♠️ by @_mortaritaville_

The cone attached to the mortar tubes above is the blast attenuation device (BAD).

It does not eliminate the blast but it can change how the pressure comes out of the tube. It is designed to reduce blast overpressure exposure.

Anyone ever used these? What are your thoughts?

Stay safe. Stay lethal. by @_mortaritaville_

♠️ Final part: The Battle of 82 EASTING

The firing finally began to die down an hour later. I had lost track of how many mission we’d fired, but as I chugged a hot bottle of water, I finally had a chance to look around. Empty ammo cans and piles of mortar dunnage lay everywhere, and our position was blanketed by a thick haze of black smoke. Our Humvees had gray potmarks and jagged gouges from the AK rounds that had slammed into the armor, and the air smelled of cordite gun oil.
Our section had four gun trucks and each one carried 80 rounds of HE. Between Wermy’s, and myself, we were down to thirty rounds, one box of 40mm for the Mark 19, three cans of .50 cal, and five boxes of 7.62. Our PL was already on the radio calling for an immediate resupply, and I was tearing into a beef stew MRE when we heard an explosion to our south, followed by the deep thumping of a DshK.
I rushed through the last bites of the cold MRE as a 240 Bravo began rocking near the sound of the explosion. The radio traffic coming from my trucks radio speaker alerted us to the fact that one of Delta Company’s gun trucks had just hit a mine and was now stuck in the kill zone. To make matters worse, the scout’s interpreter was listening in on the Taliban’s Icom chatter, and he’d learned that the compound we were using for cover belonged to the regional Taliban commander. His men assumed that we were here to grab him, and they were frantically calling for reinforcements and ammo. taken in Sangin, Afghanistan by @_mortaritaville_

Michael Adrian Hatzioannou was only 25 years old when his life was tragically cut short in a motorcycle accident. In one heartbreaking moment, two little children lost their father, a family lost a beloved son and brother, and all who knew Adrian lost a young man of courage, strength, and deep love far too soon.

Adrian lived a life of service, loyalty, and quiet strength. He served as an Army sergeant, worked in hospital security, and had recently committed himself to joining the sheriff’s academy. He was deeply loved by his family, respected by his friends and coworkers, and admired by those who knew his character and heart.

This fundraiser is primarily for Adrian’s two young children, ages 3 and 9 months, who now face life without their father. Donations will help provide them with care, stability, and support in the difficult days and months ahead. A small portion may also help with immediate transition expenses, including basic moving-related costs for loved ones affected by this devastating loss.

No amount of money can ever replace Adrian. But your kindness can help ease some of the burden his loved ones are now carrying and provide meaningful support for the children he loved so deeply.

Thank you for every prayer, share, donation, and act of love. Your generosity means more than words can say, and every contribution helps honor Adrian’s memory by caring for the children and family he loved so much.https://l.instagram.com/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gofundme.com%2Ff%2Fsupport-michael-hatzioannous-family%3Futm_id%3D97760_v0_s00_e0_tv4&e=AT4YByJN1VAPfy_gOWKtRUUPIRsS2ZagFmx1yB2tETYTbG0kkFCzQGQqj_YZrvA5kV_HaedpdCsSBCam5ZcZoK6WvXibOIVxQnMNO1iydyOAY6mV38tjkeMUuKxU by @_mortaritaville_

Leadership isn’t about barking orders — it’s about being the first to step up when it’s heavy.

It’s about enjoying the grind, the smoke, the chaos, the early mornings and late nights… because one day these moments become the stories.

Nothing worth having comes from halfway effort. Mediocrity is comfortable — and comfort is where growth dies. Being average is a choice. And that choice is for cowards.

Give it everything. Every rep. Every mission. Every opportunity.
Empty the tank.
Lead from the front.
Strive to be the standard — not the excuse.

Be proud of the work. Be present in the moment. Be relentless in the pursuit of being your best.
