I Spy with my little eye ~ Village A / 2025 by @_nickhodges
I often find myself at a loss for words when I need to speak most. Like I did when I was a kid, I’d look to Neil’s records for help. Never thought one day I’d be able to return the favor. It was an honor of a lifetime for me to help Neil and The Chrome Hearts’ debut record come to life. Couldn’t have been more proud to have done so side by side with the best partner in crime, @pedro_laet_ Endless thanks and awe for our fearless leader @jhmalibu, the consummate analog recording engineer and likely the only guy who cut tape in 2024. My hat is always off to ya, John! To Lou Adler, couldn’t thank you more for paving the way through stories, guidance, and for having the best fashion sense in town. To the guys behind the curtain, @midibob, Hausmann, Greg, @jarrettborba, Tarik, Humphreys, y’all are the most standout crew in the biz. Bar none. To the Chrome Hearts, @anthony_logerfo_ , @particlekid , @coreymccormickofficial , @spooneroldham, deepest thanks and appreciation for the adventures in sound that we put to tape for us to hear on repeat at the mix stage. Truly great. Lastly of course, to Neil: Thank you for all the years of honesty in music. No matter how difficult it can be. Gonna spin this one for years to come. And that wasn’t a tape joke. Although my involvement was small, it was a pleasure to lend a hand to one of the greats, @the_malfa, in capturing one of the greats, @ladygaga with @thisiswatt and @cirkut at the production helm. All around fantastic jobs performed by each of them. Goats, as folks say. Honored to be in the liner notes with them for “Vanish Into You.” 🤘🥃, NH by @_nickhodges

Thrilled to have helped The Moon Jays bring a pair of their songs to the listening world! I first heard “If It’s Worth It To You” when they packed The Troubadour. The song stuck with me ever since then, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to have had the chance of capturing it in the studio. It’s a special one and I’ll never forget how it made the audience feel, having been one of them. Same goes for “Your Love (Gets Me So High)”, although I’ve let enough time pass without posting about it since that one came out back in November. Lend your streams to these guys. They’ve earned it. These songs are killer and they’re a killer groups o’ guys. Catch ‘em onstage, will ya? “If It’s Worth It To You” “Your Love (Gets Me So High)” Recorded @villagestudios D. Mixed in an apartment. Recording, production, and mix handled by yours truly. 🤘🥃 PSA audio engineers: the console “reset” button can be musical too. by @_nickhodges
Getting around to sharing some projects from the past year+ that I’ve been grateful to be a part of. Kicking it off with one of my favorite songbirds, @delaneysilvernell and her twin releases from late summer “Trader Joe’s Flowers” and “Wash Away.” I was just coming off the road when we tracked these 2 songs in downtown LA. The tour let me play pedal steel every night, so thanks to that “Trader Joe’s Flowers” has one of my favorite steel performances put to tape. A practiced fluke, really. “Wash Away” is a most spacious and delicate recording. Delaney and Alisse trusted Sam, James, and I to honor that and I hope they’d agree that we did! This one has one of my favorite electric guitar takes I’ve managed to create. It’s easy to create when the songs are great. All of this really speaks to Delaney and Alisse as artists. They’re adventurous and curious and they let me try stuff. I know how rare that can be. I know where I am, and I’m thankful to be here. Talk soon, xoxo NH 📸 #1-2: Mark Beckerman by @_nickhodges
~~~~~~~ Nick 1: “ya think @pacificobeer would ever sponsor me?” Nick 2: “Probably not. You have a better chance of marketing your new @sovietjesuschoir single “Recalibrated,” which is currently available on any and all streaming services including—but not limited to— TIDAL, Apple Music, and that other big one. Maybe start there and see what happens.” #streaming #music #recalibrated #sovietjesuschoir #release #newmusic #rock #folk #songwriting #recording #beer #pacifico #marketing #marketingwiz #band #livemusic @tidal @applemusic by @_nickhodges
