Wake Up The Earth 2026 🌿
We were out in comparsa at this year’s Wake Up The Earth Festival, sharing rhythm, color, and a piece of who we are.

What you saw was more than costume. It was many hours of hands at work. Youth and staff shaping, layering, and transforming simple materials into something alive.

Rooted in the traditional carnival expressions of Cotuí, Dominican Republic, we reimagined platanuses and papeluses through our own lens. Plátano leaves, paper, corn husks, metallic foil. Texture, sound, movement. Tradition in conversation with now.

Catch the HSTF Ambassadors bringing this comparsa to the Museum of Fine Arts on June 20th for America 250. by @_nicolasjperez

Thank you to Councilor Benjamin Weber and the Boston City Council for this incredible honor. It’s been a blessing to grow, learn, and serve alongside my community for the past decade. Even more special to share this moment with my wife, Benny, and my dad. Here’s to many more years of creating impact together! @ben4district6 @bostoncitycouncil @hydesquaretf by @_nicolasjperez
