A girl can want to go to uni and start a business. She can care about her community and want to move somewhere completely new. She can change her mind about what she wants to be. Her ambitions can evolve, take unexpected turns, and grow with her. They don't need to fit neatly into one program, one career path, or someone else's imagined idea of success. Girls are people, not program outcomes. Their interests, decisions, and changing aspirations deserve room to breathe 🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏽‍♀️🧘🏾‍♀️🧘🏿‍♀️ So we ask... when we design opportunities for girls, are we making room for what they actually want? #OPENforGirls #GirlsRights #OpportunitiesForGirls #GirlsAgency #4GirlsForward by @_openforgirls

This International Day of the Girl Child, we’re saying it loud and clear. Child marriage should never be treated as simply “the way things are.” A girl’s future should not be determined by her age, circumstances, or the limitations placed around her. She deserves the time, information, education, opportunities, and support to make decisions about her own future. At OPEN for Girls, we believe opportunity begins when girls can see that they have choices—and have the support to pursue them. Her future should remain hers to determine. #OPENforGirls #EndChildMarriage #GirlsRights #InternationalDayOfTheGirl by @_openforgirls
Every girl deserves the freedom to make choices about her life, the confidence to pursue her ambitions, and the opportunity to explore what is possible for her. But potential alone is not enough. And the existence of an opportunity does not mean a girl can access it. Girls also need access to opportunities, the resources to prepare for them, and the networks and support systems that help them take the next step. At OPEN for Girls, we believe that no girl’s potential should be limited by a lack of access, information, or opportunity. Our work is about making opportunities and pathways visible, connecting girls to resources, and helping them navigate the opportunities that can shape their futures. To mark this day, we invited some members of our team to share a picture that inspires them and a personal quote reflecting what agency, choice, and opportunity mean to them. Their reflections remind us that opening doors is not about deciding which path a girl should take. It is about ensuring she has the freedom, tools, and support to choose her own. Because every girl deserves more than the promise of a bright future. She deserves a fair chance to build one. This International Day of the Girl Child, let’s do more than celebrate girls’ potential. Let’s open doors. As we mark International Day of the Girl Child, here’s where OPEN for Girls stands. When girls’ rights are at stake, looking away is not an option. Too often, barriers to education, opportunity, safety, and choice become so familiar that they begin to look inevitable. At OPEN for Girls, we believe they are not. We believe girls deserve to be seen, heard, supported, and given the tools to move forward. Because sometimes, creating change starts with refusing to look away. We see the barriers. And we’re working to make the pathways forward more visible. #OPENforGirls #GirlsRights #InternationalDayOfTheGirl #ForGirls by @_openforgirls
Money is not neutral. Philanthropy has enormous influence over the environments in which girls can thrive. This makes funding a choice worth examining. Where resources go shapes what gets built and sometimes what opportunities a girl gets. And no girl should ever have to wonder if funding will be enough for her to go to school, dream, choice her life and change the trajectory of her future! Our work at OPEN for Girls is built on a single vision: a world where no girl’s potential is limited by a lack of access to opportunities, pathways, education or networks. Will you fund what works closer to girls? #educategirls #fundagirl #opportunitiesforgirls by @_openforgirls
‎The existence of opportunities alone isn’t enough. ‎ ‎Scholarships. Fellowships. Internships. Mentorships. Leadership programs. Educational and career pathways. ‎They exist. ‎ ‎But for too many girls, particularly those who have historically been disconnected from opportunity — the opportunity might as well not exist if they don’t know about it, don’t understand how to pursue it, or can’t access the pathway to it. ‎ ‎That is the gap OPEN for Girls exists to close. ‎ ‎Our work is built around a simple progression: ‎ ‎VISIBILITY: making existing opportunities visible to girls who may never encounter them. ‎ACTION: helping girls understand what is possible, what it takes, and what steps they can take next. ‎ACCESS: connecting girls to the opportunities, pathways, education, networks and support that can help them move forward. ‎ ‎Our work isn’t about creating opportunities for the sake of creating more. ‎ ‎It’s about helping more girls find, understand and pursue the opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives. ‎ ‎Sounds like a mission you can get behind? ‎ ‎Come learn more about how we’re closing the gap between girls and opportunity here: www.openforgirls.org ‎ ‎If you’re creating opportunities for girls, supporting girls, or simply believe more girls should be able to find their way to the opportunities that already exist; ‎we’d love to connect. by @_openforgirls
Girls are speaking. Are we listening or just waiting for our turn to talk? Meaningful inclusion goes beyond giving girls a microphone. Participation is not the same as inclusion. A girl can be invited into the room and still not have her voice shape what happens there. At OPEN for Girls, we believe that for girls to truly participate, we have to move beyond speaking about girls to listening to girls and acting on what they tell us. That is what meaningful inclusion looks like. It means creating space for their experiences, ideas, concerns, and solutions to actually influence decisions. Girls deserve to not just be heard, but taken seriously. #opportunityforgirls #girlseducation by @_openforgirls
