Phase 1 complete.
This process has taught me so much about myself. About how keeping promises you made to yourself and choosing people who will hold you accountable to those promises is important. In this sport you will see posts about the victory but not always about the process. It was challenging but it built a new level of drive and fire in me. Thank you to @ifbbpro.chriscasner who sees more in me than I see in myself and will push me to excellence even when I don’t want to. Thank you to @michaelopez_ifbbpro @melreneeee @1clean138 for being supporters every day in the gym. Thank you to @jeremy_buendia for giving me tough love and sharpening me. Thank you @stoik.gyms for giving me a community and a place to call home. 8 more weeks to get better and bring a tighter package to USA’s.

@stoik.gyms member @_phillip_adams was a standout at the @legionsportsfest amateur show taking the Bodybuilding title. Definitely one to watch for when he hits up a PRO Qualifier. Very impressive.

Your athlete’s placing doesn’t mark the end of your responsibility as their coach.

After months of having a clear goal and a structured routine, the show is over. Hunger, fatigue and the pressure of watching your body change can make that transition difficult.

“Enjoy yourself, then get back on plan” isn’t enough guidance.

As an athlete, I understand how much we invest in bringing our best to the stage. As a coach, I care about how my athletes are doing once the tan fades and the attention moves on.

That means having a clear direction for food, training and recovery, keeping communication open, and helping them navigate the mental side of stepping away from stage condition.

Some weight gain is part of moving forward. It shouldn’t leave an athlete feeling like they’ve failed or have to figure everything out alone.

The standard I hold myself to is simple: be present through the difficult phases, even when there’s no stage photo to celebrate.

It I’ve learned anything about bodybuilding as a sport it’s that it’s a marathon not a sprint.
Water at 210 degrees is just hot water. But 2 more degrees and you hit 212 and that water starts boiling. A reminder to you (and to myself) don’t get so impatient or exhausted by consistency that you turn down the heat. You are at 210 degrees and very soon things are gonna move. Don’t give up

Getting back to normal life.
