This was very nostalgic for me reflecting on the very first cover I did with them years ago now. The amount of growth and healing/clarity that’s transpired between then and now blows me away!!! She has arrived!!! VOCAL ALCHEMY is an introspective offering that highlights the power within speech and choices of words that carry potent abilities to build or destroy. While words have the profound effect in the way that we influence the listener’s attentiveness, they also possess the ability to shape our own reality through the internal conversations we construct when no one is listening. Words uttered are as powerful as those accumulated in silence.

Very happy to share that “We Walk The Bridge of Worlds” has been selected for @idfadoclab 2026!

We’ll have the opportunity to pitch the project in Amsterdam, at one of the leading international platforms for financing and co-production in documentary and new media. We’re incredibly proud to be recognised alongside so many outstanding projects from across the globe.

This journey so far has been made possible thanks to the support of @electric_south, goetheinstitut_southafrica, @canonrsa and @tschukutschuku at @unam_performing_arts & @owelacollective. We’re so grateful to have them alongside us as we take this next step.

Playing at the Sufi temple was one of those nights that felt slightly outside of time.

We loved the feeling of bringing our strange little world of sound into a space with such a deep relationship to devotion, gathering and ritual.

It’s so transformative, gathering with others to listen. Not to seek answers, nor to arrive anywhere in particular, but to soften the edges of our attention.

This small glimpse is from our rehearsal..
myself, @denise_1n and @botanicas___ finding one another through improvisation, listening and trust. In the ambient tradition, music is less about performance than it is about creating a living atmosphere, a place where sound can be inhabited, where time stretches, and where each person is invited into their own experience.

We would love for you to join us in this shared field of listening.

The Sufi Temple has generously opened its sacred space to hold this gathering. It is a place that has welcomed contemplation, devotion and stillness for many years, and we are deeply honoured to offer this evening within its walls. We invite you to enter gently…

At the Sufi Temple in Newlands: together PURE, Denise Onen and Botanicas weave textures, resonance and atmosphere, into an immersive sonic journey that lingers between the earthly and the unseen.

In a world shaped by division, displacement, and the relentless weight of unfolding events, many of us are carrying more than words can hold. It is perhaps now, more than ever, that we need spaces where we can gather…gently. where listening becomes an act of care, and where we can remember our shared humanity beyond the noise that so often asks us to harden our hearts.

Participants are welcome to lie down on yoga mats with blankets and pillows, allowing the body to fully rest while the sound unfolds.
Chairs are also available for those who prefer to sit. Space is intentionally limited to maintain the intimate nature of the gathering.

PURE is a mother, transdisciplinary artist, facilitator and activist, whose practice scopes across ecological sonic systems, sound art, field recording, afrofuturism and somatics. Drawing from animistic traditions, they explore the relational interplay between more-than-human entities and the natural world. By approaching the landscape as a sentient presence, it resists reductionist views of nature.

Denise Onen is an audio alchemist and sonic cultural practitioner. Onen collaborates globally, crafting sound for film, theatre, and art installations.

Botanicas, an ambient sound and installation artist working at the intersection of ecological systems and sonic perception. Their practice explores the hidden acoustic dimensions of forests, oceans, and the living systems that connect them, unearthing the unseen layers of our environment through generative and biofeedback sound synthesis, site-responsive installations, and detailed field recordings.

I’ll be performing a live drone set shaped through ambient textures, conducted improvisation, and deep listening alongside sound alchemist and dear collaborator @denise_1n

Next week Lynn Daphne Rudolph will be hosting a special evening alongside PURE and Andrei van Wyk in the Flat at @ganesh_capetown .

An exploration of works by an Iranian composer: Niloufar Nourbhaksh, South African composer Arthur Feder and Lynn Daphne Rudolph’s original compositions. We’ll weave between written works and improvisation between viola, guitar, tape and voice including an array of instruments and sounds from Pure.

Lynn Daphne Rudolph (@daphne.zar ) is a Johannesburg-based award-winning violist, multidisciplinary artist, and scholar whose work bridges classical performance, African musical influences, electronics, and activism. Performing internationally at venues such as Carnegie Hall and The Broad, she is known for blending sonic storytelling with deeply personal and cultural narratives.

PURE (@_purely_ ) is a transdisciplinary artist, mother, facilitator and activist, whose practice scopes across ecological sonic systems, sound art, field recording, afrofuturism and somatics. Pure’s work seeks to heal creative wounding by dismantling colonial frameworks that distort Afrocentric art modalities.

Andrei van Wyk (@andreivanw ) is a sound artist, composer, writer, and musician, whose work explores concepts of identity, dispossession, sonic isolation, clashing anxieties, hypertextuality, and historiography through the practices of soundscape construction and musical experimentalism inthe mediums of performance, film, and sound installation by @_purely_
