CIRCULAR ECONOMY SCHOOL - THE FILM

🍿 Popcorn alert!🍿

Earlier this year we ran the first iteration of the Circular Economy School in Park Royal, north-west London. We’ve now made a beautiful film about it (with the help of the brilliant @lavandafilmsuk) - and you can watch it! The link is in the bio.

The Circular Economy School is a new programme in Park Royal, where local young people learn how to make sustainable products from waste materials - and gain the real skills they need for careers in the circular economy.

Over three months in 2026, a group of ten 17-21 year olds from the boroughs of Brent, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham were paid London Living Wage to learn every aspect of sustainable production. The young people designed and produced three new products (and the stall to sell them from), and sold them at a two day long market event, as part of London Craft Week 2026.

The school was run by Absolute Beginners, @_recollective_ and @rescuedclay.project and was funded by the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. We’re now fundraising for a second iteration of the school. If you want to fund it or sponsor it, get in touch.

HELLO LONDON

Over the next few weeks, we will sadly be moving out of our base at Minerva Works in Park Royal.

For over 2 years, ReCollective have been based at Minerva Works, diverting film industry materials away from ‘waste’ streams, towards our depot, before going onwards to new projects.

As we move onto new horizons, we need your help to continue shifting our salvaged timber onto new projects. We’re having a Moving Out Sale on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September 2026 at 1 Minerva Road, NW10 6HJ. We invite you to come to warehouse between 10am and 5pm, or pre-order materials before this. Please dm or email us on network@recollective.uk for our latest material inventory.

We are offering BIG discounts, and prioritising bulk orders. The bigger the order, the bigger the discount!
We will offer discounts and deliveries on a case by case basis.

If you’d like to help us move some timber on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September, and get some free materials yourself, please message us, we would love to see you! by @_recollective_

We have emerged from an incredible week at @__brickfield__ for our first Nomadic Craft Circus event, End of Clays, and are now preparing for the next stop on our Cornubian tour: Making Ritual, down in Penwith.

During End of Clays, our wonderful circus participants sculpted and glazed ceramic objects from china clay, ball clay, quartz sand and mica dust - geological materials found within St Austell’s Clay Country.

Next week, these objects will travel west to Penwith, where our cast will learn to grade stone, forge stone-carving tools and sculpt stone.

Participants will carve a pocket into a piece of graded stone, made specifically to house each of these ceramic objects. At the end of the week, these stones will be placed within the earth to form a ceramic and stone mosaic - a geological archive that will grow as the circus returns each year.

Many thanks to all the participants, circus performers and roustabouts who made End of Clays such a special week. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and are looking forward to sharing more from the week and next event in Penwith.

We are delighted to introduce some of our fabulous cast of circus performers for the End of Clays residency; brought together to enable you to conduct experiments with the material remnants of a global industry, and re-imagine post-industrial areas as a landscape of opportunity.

As usual, you’ll find a sign up link for the last few End of Clays tickets in our bio. We have also added more capacity for the Saturday night feast so if you can’t make it for the whole week you can come and see what we’ve gotten up to whilst our kitchen magician, Rory Sheehan, conjures up a range of local delicacies for you to enjoy. by @_recollective_

We are excited to announce, that after our first event this summer, the circus will continue to travel across the Cornish landscape to West Penwith for ‘Making Ritual’.

There, we will be join our dear friends at LandWise for a more meditative retreat, designed for makers interested in the ability of craft and materiality to carry meaning across time.

We would be delighted to have you join us for the occasion, and invite you to click the link in our bio for more information.

TEXT EDIT: Stone Sculpture & Cornish hedging techniques, with David Paton & Helen Bowkett - Participants will learn Cornish hedging and stone sculpture techniques, working with granite graded earlier in the week to produce elements of the geological mosaic. by @_recollective_

We would like to introduce you to more from the Circus’ Cornubian tour.

We have become somewhat enamoured with local brick marks - how they hark back to a time when we took such pride in what we made, that we adorned the object with our name and its connection to a place.

It feels rather important that we cultivate a culture, an identity, through material relationships again. So it is, we’re inviting you to search for Cornwall’s Lost Bricks with us so that we may put these fine specimens on display, and celebrate the traceable provenance of local clay.

Adding further excitement to the realm of value exchange, brick locators will be rewarded with a discounted ‘bricket’ for our upcoming residency; End of Clays.

Many of you have already bought tickets for the occasion, yet will still undoubtedly want to spend your weekend scouring the landscape. In which case, please drop us a message to make the appropriate arrangements.

Good evening distinguished guests, humans and non-humans.

We are delighted to present our Nomadic Craft Circus. A curious travelling experiment; exploring rural supply chains, climate adaptation and cultural production through a celebration of local materials and related crafts.

The first stop on our pilot tour of Cornubia is in Clay Country, where Brickfield’s marvellous ring master, Rosanna Martin, has granted us access to a world famous quantity of ‘waste’ clay so that we may teach you of its various applications in architecture.

We would be delighted to have you join the circus for this spectacular occasion, and invite you to click the link in our bio for more information.

Circular Economy School

MARKET TOMORROW!

This weekend, we’re setting up the Circular Economy School market stall at @standardmarketnw10 - and it’s going to look something like this!

Come down on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May, from 11-4. See the market stall, touch the products we’ve been making - and buy them!

The stall has been designed by Clementine Krokatsis, Geetasree Thakur and Sweetsan Manijam, in workshops led by Francesca Rausa from @_recollective_.

It’s made with the material that Recollective have collected - timber and sheet materials like ply and OSB - which would otherwise have been incinerated. The design was inspired by the young people wanting to create a welcoming space - a circular design (insert your own joke). The young people then learnt to use chop-saws, circular saws, Japanese pull-saws and orbital sanders, to bring the design to life.

This animation was directed by Clementine Krokatsis. Thanks to Freya Bruce for the film! by @_recollective_

A brilliant community effort at Newquay Orchard last week!

We were joined by the on-site student groups, volunteers and the public to audit the existing structure of Kreft Maker Space, as well as an impressive haul of loose timber left in the workshops from previous projects.

The audit will form a virtual inventory of materials for reuse, which we will work with in the concept design phase, coming up next.

Special thanks to you to @satiokane who joined us on this project via her placement with @architecturefalmouth by @_recollective_
