One festival I genuinely love and feel so deeply involved in is the Ganeshotsav. A festival that takes so many different shapes across the world, and yet somehow always feels like home. I grew up in Pune, loving the way Ganpati takes over the city, but I’d always wondered what it looked like in Mumbai. This year, I finally got to experience the massive murtis, elaborate pandals, endless darshan queues, and the sheer scale of it all. What stayed with me most was seeing these celebrations woven into Lalbaug Parel, the beautiful chawls, old mill neighbourhoods and streets that have been part of the city’s Ganpati culture for generations. From the public celebrations popularised by Lokmanya Tilak in 1893 to the massive celebrations we see today, so much of Mumbai’s Ganpati is rooted in community, culture and simply coming together. Different cities, different traditions, different Bappas but the same feeling. ❤️

About time I post about this. Almost a year after Forgotten Notes was shot, I realised now why it is a special process. It’s not perfect, not technically sound, but it was personal. A topic closer to real life than anything else, I cherish the process because it came right from the heart. It’s not for everyone, but when someone comes to me and says they almost cried at the ending, I cannot help but realise— this is why we have chosen this art form. Between the long sweaty shoot schedules, the frustrating shoot restrictions and the crew jumping outside literal windows to take one shot, we strive to deliver an experience that stays.

A learning experience that will always be special to me thanks to the people, the process and the obstacles we faced. It’s only upwards from here on 🤍 by @_san_mitra_
