For autumn and winter, I switched to 32 mm Vittoria Rubino tyres.

Why 32 mm?

More comfort, more grip on wet and rough roads, and a little more confidence when conditions get worse. The Rubino is designed as an everyday performance tyre, with grip, durability and puncture protection.

And no, going wider doesn’t automatically mean going slower.

With the right tyre pressure, a 32 mm tyre can roll just as efficiently in real-world conditions, while giving you more comfort and control.

For me, that makes 32 mm the perfect setup for the autumn and winter months.

More grip. More comfort. Same speed.

Any tyre would’ve had a problem with this sharp shell.

I had barely started my ride when it cut straight through the tyre. Nothing you can really do about that one.

So instead of riding, it was time for an unexpected tyre change.

Sometimes bike maintenance chooses the timing for you.

That creaking from my headset? I found the cause today: one bolt wasn’t tight enough, leaving a little play. My own fault not checking regularly.

I regreased everything and torqued the bolts to spec. No more creaking.

Dirty skinwalls can really ruin the look of a clean bike.

I tried the Vittoria Sidewall Cleaner to remove dirt and bring back the original look of the sidewalls and the difference speaks for itself.

Simple product, satisfying result.

My usual training loop takes me through Belgium’s famous ghost town, Doel.

75 km, usually very little traffic, and quiet streets lined with abandoned houses and street art. A place that makes this familiar route feel a little different every time.

Squeaky disc brakes? Don’t replace anything yet.

This is the process I use to get them clean and braking properly again:

1. Remove the wheel
2. Take out the brake pads
3. Clean the disc rotor thoroughly with disc cleaner from @zuiver_chris / isopropyl alcohol
4. Lightly sand the brake pads to remove the contaminated top layer
5. Clean everything again and let it dry completely
6. Reinstall the pads and wheel
7. Bed the brakes in again with a few controlled hard stops

A little contamination can make a huge difference in noise and braking performance.

Save this for the next time your brakes start screaming.
