The Carmichael Chamber of Commerce is excited to officially introduce this year’s Honorary Mayor candidates!

⭐ Mike Rockenstein
A lifelong advocate for the Carmichael community and current honorary mayor of Carmichael, Mike has dedicated decades to public service through local parks, planning, youth leadership, and community initiatives. His campaign proudly benefits First Tee – Greater Sacramento, helping thousands of young people build confidence, character, and life skills through the game of golf.

⭐ Lacey Martinez
Co-owner of Tangle Free Low Sensory Hair Salon, Lacey has built a welcoming space for individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, ADHD, anxiety, and more!. Her campaign benefits the newly formed Special Education Advocacy PTA, supporting local students and the families who advocate for them every day.

Both candidates are passionate about making Carmichael an even stronger, more connected community, and over the coming weeks they’ll be raising awareness and funds for their incredible nonprofit partners.

The Falling Together All Abilities Dance at Meristem was so much fun!

Attending this fundraiser benefitted Special Education Advocacy PTA of SJUSD (SEPTA) in support of Lacey Martinez’s 2027 Honorary Mayor Campaign.

“Lacey Martinez has a vision of creating a more adaptive community, as the co-owner of Tangle Free Low Sensory Hair Salon in Carmichael, California. In 2020, Lacey and her mother opened the salon with the vision of providing a calm, welcoming environment for individuals who find traditional haircut experiences overwhelming due to sensory sensitivities, autism, anxiety, ADHD, or other disabilities.”

“In addition to her work at Tangle Free, Lacey is a proud mother in the San Juan Unified School District and is actively involved in supporting students with disabilities and their families through the Special Education Advocacy PTA. As both a parent and community member, she has seen firsthand the importance of ensuring families have access to resources, support, and meaningful connections. That is why she chose to partner with the Special Education Advocacy PTA as the beneficiary of her Honorary Mayor campaign.”

Tonight was what community inclusion is supposed to feel like. 💜🍂

So many families, kids, community organizations, advocates, and supporters came together tonight to dance, connect, share resources, make new friends, and simply have FUN together. 🥹

A huge thank you to Lacey Martinez for bringing the Falling Together All Abilities Dance to life and creating a space where different communication styles, sensory needs, abilities, and ways of participating were welcomed. 💜

I’m so grateful she invited me to be part of tonight, represent Best Buddies Sacramento + Horizons Beyond 22 🌊, share IICA resources, and support SEPTA — Special Education Advocacy PTA of SJUSD, the nonprofit benefiting from tonight’s event.

Tonight was another reminder that inclusion doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like music, dancing, resources, new connections, families showing up for one another, and a community where everyone knows they belong. 🫶

Different abilities. One community. Everyone belongs. 💜
