I cannot remember the last time I got face painted! After seeing so many at the Falling Together All Abilities Dance with colorful designs and ear to ear smiles, it was the decision maker to partake in the fun too.

The experience was quick yet still impactful. While sitting in the chair, I felt special and pretty. Especially after the reveal and through the remainder of the evening, there was a bit more pep in my step.

It would be fun to get a group of friends together, dress up and with faces painted, enjoy a full day of activities!

I’ll start manifesting that idea now, maybe go to a local thrift store to pick each other’s outfits 🤔 Archery has also been on my mind as a bucket list item. Renaissance fair maybe? The sky is the limit ❤️

What kind of day would you plan?

Meristem was the perfect location for the Falling Together All Abilities Dance. With the combined effort of Special Education Advocacy PTA of SJUSD (SEPTA), Lacey Martinez and more, headphones, quiet spaces and plenty of room for movement and stimming was provided so all felt included.

It was my first time experiencing this type of environment and appreciated the thoughtfulness. Everyone seemed like they were having a great time and it warmed my heart to see so many smiles.

Attending the Falling Together All Abilities Dance was a great reminder of the good in people.

The fundraiser did more than benefit Special Education Advocacy PTA of SJUSD (SEPTA) in support of Lacey Martinez’s 2027 Honorary Mayor Campaign, it brought the special needs community, families and neighbors together!

There were several booths that provided a range of different resources, activities and snacks for attendees. It was inspiring to hear what everyone is doing to make a positive impact in the world.

Also, If you haven’t voted for Best of Carmichael 2026, a handful of us have been nominated for various categories and would appreciate your support.

The Falling Together All Abilities Dance at Meristem was so much fun!

Attending this fundraiser benefitted Special Education Advocacy PTA of SJUSD (SEPTA) in support of Lacey Martinez’s 2027 Honorary Mayor Campaign.

“Lacey Martinez has a vision of creating a more adaptive community, as the co-owner of Tangle Free Low Sensory Hair Salon in Carmichael, California. In 2020, Lacey and her mother opened the salon with the vision of providing a calm, welcoming environment for individuals who find traditional haircut experiences overwhelming due to sensory sensitivities, autism, anxiety, ADHD, or other disabilities.”

“In addition to her work at Tangle Free, Lacey is a proud mother in the San Juan Unified School District and is actively involved in supporting students with disabilities and their families through the Special Education Advocacy PTA. As both a parent and community member, she has seen firsthand the importance of ensuring families have access to resources, support, and meaningful connections. That is why she chose to partner with the Special Education Advocacy PTA as the beneficiary of her Honorary Mayor campaign.”

Want to know the coolest part about this annual Mayoral race? Votes are determined by how much money is raised! Every $1 = 1 vote. The campaign closes on Oct 14.

Tonight was what community inclusion is supposed to feel like. 💜🍂

So many families, kids, community organizations, advocates, and supporters came together tonight to dance, connect, share resources, make new friends, and simply have FUN together. 🥹

A huge thank you to Lacey Martinez for bringing the Falling Together All Abilities Dance to life and creating a space where different communication styles, sensory needs, abilities, and ways of participating were welcomed. 💜

I’m so grateful she invited me to be part of tonight, represent Best Buddies Sacramento + Horizons Beyond 22 🌊, share IICA resources, and support SEPTA — Special Education Advocacy PTA of SJUSD, the nonprofit benefiting from tonight’s event.

Tonight was another reminder that inclusion doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like music, dancing, resources, new connections, families showing up for one another, and a community where everyone knows they belong. 🫶

Different abilities. One community. Everyone belongs. 💜

Part 2: You find the house has security cameras that utilize WiFi. The security app on the owner’s phone shows evidence the cameras were turned off on Saturday between the hours of 6-9pm.

The owner’s parents, brother and sister live in town. However, they don’t have access to his account. When recalling further, the owner says his nephew was the one who helped setup the system initially. Maybe he still had access?

But, the nephew lives in Chicago…

Participate in the next one:
9/18 Movie in the Park from 7-9:30pm
