📚 Book Feature: Spores

I read this book from @falseknees a few months ago, and it is absolutely stunning. A simple, beautiful story with impactful visuals, good humour and a great message. This is a compilation of Joshua Barkman’s story for #falsetober2022, and warrants being picked up even if you’ve read it in its entirety on social media. I highly recommend it!

Plus, it still has a 25% discount at the time of posting this. Hope that helps if you’re on the fence. Seriously, get it! You won’t regret it.
-
I just checked and realized that my last book feature was almost 1 year ago. I really need to do better here. 😅

Why did social media stop being social? There has to be a better way to do this. Right?

From curated feeds and shallow engagement to endless pursuits of validation, and attention seeking, polarising content - everything is enabling you to sell yourself more, and this is for brands and individuals alike… It’s disappointing how these platforms have consistently transitioned to be just another avenue for us to consume digital entertainment.

But, we’re all guilty in promoting this. Can we reclaim what we have lost? Do we even want to anymore?

📚 Book Feature: IRONHEART: Riri Williams
-
This was an impulse buy back in 2019 and I finally got around to reading it last year. Beautifully put together, this book serves as a great primer introducing us to Riri and her alter ego. @stefano_caselli_art and @martegraciacolor did a phenomenal job with the art - it truly adds a depth to the visual storytelling. The story from @brianmbendis was crisp with good plot points and some great character development. I really cared about Riri and Ironheart by the time I was done with the book. The story could have had a better flow, but it did a great job advancing the plot and fleshing out Riri’s world.
-
I would heartily recommend this book. Have you read it? What are your impressions about Riri Williams and Ironheart?

📚 Book Feature: SHED graphic novel
-
I’m so glad I backed this book by @bluefoxcomics on Kickstarter. Richard Fairgray’s artwork is absolutely gorgeous, and the writing collab from Richard and Lucy Campagnolo kept me captivated all throughout. This beautifully crafted book with elements of small-town drama, mystery, and a touch of horror has a good story, along with great character development and world-building. I particularly enjoyed the hauntingly beautiful, full-page art pieces at the start and close of each chapter.

Staples.

I have a newfound appreciation for the mundane after the roller coaster ride I’ve been on for the better part of 3 years now. I’m thankful my life is ordinary again, and it’s now time to step it up! 💥

But, nothing would be the same without the awesome @ketki.abhyankar in my corner through this whole time!

I’m pretty certain there’s a design problem hiding in plain sight, where social media engagement and burnout is concerned.

Oh well, I’m back to give this another go after my stupidly long hibernation. #isit2020already taken in Antelope Canyon by @_tanmayjoshi
