C2 enables maneuver. Full stop.

Speed, tempo, and focus all run through comms. MCDP 1 calls it generating a high tempo: a relative speed of action that keeps you inside the enemy's decision cycle. Move through OODA faster than they can think and they spend the fight reacting to conditions that no longer exist.

Swipe through for the full breakdown.

Maker Monday – Jammer Hunt with SDRangel & Raspberry Pi 5

This week at The Communicator LLC, we’re highlighting a DIY build that helps you detect RF jamming attempts using the Raspberry Pi 5 paired with SDRangel.

🛠️ What’s it do?

With SDRangel running on a Pi 5 and a connected SDR (like the RTL-SDR or HackRF), you can passively monitor the RF spectrum and detect anomalies, spikes, or nulls that signal potential jamming or interference attempts.

⸻

What you need:
	•	Raspberry Pi 5 (64-bit OS)
	•	SDR dongle (RTL-SDR v3, HackRF, or AirSpy recommended)
	•	External antenna (wideband if possible)
	•	SDRangel (installed via Flatpak or from source)

⸻

Why SDRangel?

SDRangel provides a powerful GUI + DSP toolchain with real-time spectrum visualization, FFT, demodulators, and plugin support. It’s ideal for spotting band disruptions or narrowband jamming across multiple protocols.

⸻

Sample Python Code (Signal Spike Detection via FFT)

This is a lightweight way to script basic jammer detection outside of SDRangel for automated alerts:

import numpy as np
import rtlsdr
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

sdr = rtlsdr.RtlSdr()
sdr.sample_rate = 2.4e6
sdr.center_freq = 433.92e6  # Adjust based on band
sdr.gain = ‘auto’

samples = sdr.read_samples(256*1024)
power = 20*np.log10(np.abs(np.fft.fftshift(np.fft.fft(samples))))
freqs = np.fft.fftshift(np.fft.fftfreq(len(samples), 1/sdr.sample_rate))

# Simple threshold alert
threshold_db = -30
if np.any(power > threshold_db):
 print(“⚠️ Possible jammer detected!”)

# Visualize (optional)
plt.plot(freqs/1e6, power)
plt.xlabel(‘Frequency (MHz)’)
plt.ylabel(‘Power (dB)’)
plt.title(‘SDR Jammer Detection’)
plt.grid()
plt.show()

sdr.close()

Swap in frequency bands as needed (e.g., 2.4GHz ISM, 900MHz LMR, etc.). taken in Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton by @_the_communicator

Deep Behind the Wire: C5ISRT in Action

Ukraine’s recent deep-strike drone operations targeting Engels and Mozdok airbases exemplify the evolution of modern warfare, where advanced C5ISRT capabilities are pivotal.

Key Technological Advancements:
	•	GPS-Denied Navigation: Utilizing transformer-based fusion algorithms, drones achieved high-altitude navigation without GPS, integrating Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO), Visual Positioning Systems (VPS), and Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) for precise positioning.
	•	Companion Computing with BlueOS: Leveraging BlueOS on Raspberry Pi platforms enabled modular mission planning, real-time data processing, and seamless integration of various sensors, enhancing autonomy and operational efficiency.
	•	Multi-Sensor Data Fusion: Combining inputs from barometers, optical flow sensors, and cameras allowed for robust state estimation, ensuring mission success even in contested environments.

These operations underscore a shift towards decentralized, intelligent systems capable of executing complex missions with minimal human intervention.

Some information might not be exact or most. These are my personal takeaways from a C5ISRT point of view.
