🪷SUMMARY:
Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve, and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby she ignores her sister Elinor’s warning that her impulsive behaviour leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor, always sensitive to social convention, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment, even from those closest to her.

Through their parallel experience of love - and its threatened loss - the sisters learn that sense must mix with sensibility if they are to find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love.

🎟️MY THOUGHTS:
In honor of the new Sense and Sensibility movie coming out this weekend, I thought it was the perfect time to share a review of the book! 📖 💕

I love that this story follows two sisters who approach life and love so differently. Elinor is guided by reason and restraint, while Marianne wears her heart on her sleeve. And yet, at the heart of it all, this is really a story about the bond between sisters. 👯‍♀️❤️

Of course, it’s all told through Jane Austen’s signature wit, humor, and clever social commentary. There’s something almost satirical about the way she exposes the absurdities of society and the expectations placed on women, all while giving us a beautiful story about love, family, and growing up.

So, while this might not be my favorite Austen, I still think it’s a wonderful read! And now I’m SO excited to see the new movie this weekend! You can bet I’ll be there! 🎬

I tried Volume One a few times and just couldn’t get into it… but then I switched to the audiobooks, and THAT changed everything. 🎧✨

For me, it really picked up around Volume Four, and now I totally understand the hype. 🚀

I’m caught up, I’m invested, and I’m officially waiting for Volume Nine. 👀

This book is wildly popular, incredibly loved, and was heavily requested for us to do a full review on… so this one is for YOU. 😂🫶🏻

Full transparency here… I tried to read this book twice and DNF’d it both times. 😅 But when in doubt, it’s time to try the audiobook! 😉🎧

And honestly? I’m glad I finally finished it. It definitely pulled on my heartstrings and left me thinking about the beauty of human connection and the ways people can impact each other’s lives.

🐚MY THOUGHTS:
I’ve been wanting to jump into the genre of biblical fiction for a while now, and Connilyn Cossette grabbed my attention the most. So, this was the one I decided to start with!

I wasn’t expecting the level of grittiness and hard-hitting historical details, but honestly, I think it was a good choice. It gave the story a sense of historical accuracy and made the story have an even deeper impact on me.

There were definitely moments that made me uncomfortable, but it never felt like it crossed that line into the kind of grittiness that can make me want to put a book down. Instead, it helped me understand the world and circumstances these characters were living in, and I think that made the story all the more meaningful.

Definitely a strong introduction to biblical fiction for me, but now I’m curious to read more.

🌳MY THOUGHTS:
One of the books we included in our 10 Regency Romances Everyone Should Read list!

This one has such a fun mystery element with the letter at the center of everything, and of course… the romance is SO good. 🥰 I loved having that little bit of mystery mixed in with all the Regency goodness.

Basically: a handsome widower, secrets, hidden rooms, found family and just enough swoon to make you smile like a school girl. 💕 It’s the kind of book that makes you want to curl up somewhere cozy and disappear into the story for a while.

The Setup Man had me so giddy, I was grinning like an idiot into the pages. 🤭💕

Fake dating is such a popular and loved romance trope, but this was NOT your typical fake-dating story. She’s fake dating someone she doesn’t even want to be with… while developing feelings for someone else! 👀

This created the most delicious tension and forbidden romance, with the delightful fun of a rom-com mixed in. It was such a unique setup 😉 and I loved every minute of it!

Read this one, and then be sure to follow it up with The Fall Classic! So. Good. ❤️
