As a reader, what do you prefer?

I’ve taken down several reviews of books I didn’t feel I could fully recommend (e.g. lots of innuendos or more swearing than I prefer). But then my husband noted that those reviews might actually be helpful for readers.

(I do keep all content reviews on my Goodreads).

I had the BEST time this weekend at this fall book basket exchange hosted by @hollys_book_musings and @reading.between.the.whines !!!! I cannot hope to tag everyone in this post but I loved seeing you all! Feel free to leave me a comment so I can make sure I am following you! The bookstagram community is just wonderful and I am so lucky to be a part of it and get to do events like this with my fellow readers!

🍁📚Fall Book Basket Exchange Party 2025📚🍁

🎶Sound on for a song that matches how we feel about this great group of friends!

On Saturday night, we hosted our second annual book basket exchange party and invited authors, bookstagrammers, and reader friends from all over the Valley.

To say we had a blast again would be a huge understatement!
We love hosting and organizing these events to bring together people who love books just as much as we do.
Never had we thought that our online friends would become some of our greatest friends.

For this exchange attendees could bring a treat to share and were given raffle tickets and a number for the exchange.
We drew tickets for the prizes at the beginning.

Then we introduced ourselves and told briefly what was in our basket in relation to the closed-door/clean book we brought.

Jenna brought Acting Merry, Christmas romcom by @authormarthakeyes and went home with Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. (Did you see the gorgeous plant in that basket?)

Holly brought Never Doubt I Love, a Regency Romance by @authordanalecheminant and went home with Acting Merry by @authormarthakeyes and Since We’ve No Place to Go by @katewatsonbooks , both Christmas romcoms.

People said they had a great time and we are so happy with how everything turned out. We spent Sunday recovering and resting. 😴

In total 38 women including ourselves attended, about 10 more than last time. Many Bookstagrammers brought a friend. The more the merrier!
