That's what our candle thought about the week-long heatwave... It definitely bowed the knee. 🫠

We were also at the end of our patience in every sense of the word.

Carving and stamping are my new obsessions right now.
Back in art school, one teacher kept telling us to just make a LOT of art. At the time, that idea—just producing tons of stuff for the sake of it—felt super overwhelming. I mean, one drawing can take forever… so how am I supposed to make ten?

But now I’m starting to think maybe she meant something like stamping all along. :)) It’s quick, it’s fun… and suddenly it all makes sense. Code cracked!

Ich habe neulich mein altes Portfolio wiedergefunden und mit etwas Nostalgie auf meine Prop-Design-Zeichnungen aus meiner Zeit bei MotionWorks Animation Studio in Halle geschaut.
Es war eine wirklich schöne Zeit – vor allem die Reise mit dem jungen Marco Polo. Besonders spannend und fast abenteuerlich fand ich damals, dass wir für jede Episode das jeweilige Land recherchieren sollten, in das er gerade gereist ist: Usbekistan, Mongolei, Kasachstan…
Jedes dieser Länder hatte seine eigene visuelle Welt, mit Menschen, ihrer Lebensweise und den Geschichten dahinter. Wir haben versucht, diese Vielfalt auch in den Episoden durch Texturen und Formen authentisch umzusetzen.

I recently rediscovered my old portfolio and felt a bit nostalgic looking back at my prop design work from my time at MotionWorks Animation Studio in Halle.
It was such a special period – especially working on the journey of young Marco Polo. One of the most exciting parts was researching each country he traveled to for every episode: Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan…
Each place had its own unique visual world – its people, way of life, and stories. We tried to bring this richness into the episodes through textures and shapes, in a way that felt authentic to each culture.
