Years of collecting bits of kit, ceramics and things made by mates has finally resulted in a friendmaxxed coffee station.

My kettle recently decided to become spoutless. I respect its decision, but it did make brewing coffee almost impossible. @alexdantessmith from @fellowproducts sorted me out one of the new Stagg EKG Pro, I now brew every coffee at a half degree. The sense of superiority this has given me is a high I’m never coming down from.

Today’s coffee is Finca La Fuente from @yavedguarnizo and Yobani, roasted by @quo.coffee , celebrating ten years of working together. In an industry obsessed with trends and clout, it’s cool to see people stick around, build trust and grow together. Beautiful coffee 🍮🍯💐

Brewing on the @oddlyspecific.coffee Snap⁰²⁹ from my guy @cosmin.bandit. Watching this thing go from 3D printed ideas to a finished brewer without losing its soul is exactly why I love this stuff. DIY till Death. Go make cool shit.

The @origo_coffee @mihai.panfil crew showed us an incredible time in Bucharest earlier this year. Dinner at @eto_cuisineofnow was unforgettable, and a few months later @xmiruna surprised Zoe and I with a set of @poemi_microfactory ceramics used by the restaurant.

Earlier this year we hosted a 32 competitor self funded, sponsorless brewing competition. Alongside our best friends Alex and Iwan from @siop.tec we welcomed almost the entire scottish coffee scene into our tiny little shop. This event was important for a few reasons but most importantly we wanted to prove that you can and should do things yourself. Don’t wait for big business industry titans to roll through and steamroll your local scene. Host throwdowns, cuppings, parties etc but don’t fly someone else’s flag when you do it. Make it about the people that are important to your cafe/roastery. Don’t give it all away. We wanted to show that speciality coffee sub culture is not only alive but thriving. We wanted to let the industry know that Amulet is for them. We joke about Amulet not being a cafe but what do we really mean by that?

To me Amulet is the end of one journey and the beginning of another. Time to bring home all of the things i’ve gained from an industry that gave me everything. Amulet is for the scene by the scene. If you get it you get it and If you don’t get it, that’s ok too. We welcome curiosity and a lack of expectation. If you’re passionate about coffee, like the hundred or so people in this video then Amulet is for you. If you’re at the start of your own journey Amulet is for you. If you’re a weary industry veteran Amulet is for you.

Congratulations to @thatlewisguy for being the first Amutec deathcup champion. Thank you so much to @_wiise_ for capturing the event and editing it so perfectly. Thank you @eh9_fraser for being a judge on the night. Thank you to all the baristas and coffee lovers that showed up and made the night so special.

Super excited to announce that the amazing @_wiise_ is our UK Partner and Visual Director.

It is an honour to have such an amazing coffee professional join the @oddlyspecific.coffee team.
James Wise was one of the few people that got to see and taste the very first and last iterations of the Snap.

Our friendship has spanned more than a decade and I wouldn't be able to find a more incredible, skilled and talented coffee professional to represent us in the UK, and as for the Visual Director role he is the one dude that manages to capture the magic of coffee, proving his artistic prowess over and over again.
Very grateful to have him on board and that our friendship bloomed into a partnership I am extremely proud of. 🫰🏼🖤 by @_wiise_

In these clips Christian had brewed up two different varietals grown by @sandra_mora29 and Hector.

Tomorrow I’ll be at @moonstruck.cafe for their 2nd birthday, brewing coffee from two of my favourite farms: Finca El Porvenir and Finca La Fuente.

Two years ago I travelled to Colombia with @koppianne and @christiangullbrandsson and saw the relationships they’ve built with these families over many years. I've visited farms before but never seen anything like it.

When Liam asked what I wanted to brew, there wasn’t a decision to make. If I get the chance to share these coffees and talk about that time, then that's what I'm doing.
