Still so much brightness and colour in my garden, feeling a little more ā€˜me’ after the last several weeks.
My creativity is waking up again after being submerged under grief and life stuff, and my fingers are itching to write and create againā€¦šŸ’š taken in Huddersfield by @_yorkshire_threads_

When life feels impossible to deal with, when people you know are in the middle of tough times, and when you don’t feel creative or brave about your life…throw caution to the winds and do something that future you will be proud of! šŸ”„šŸ’š by @_yorkshire_threads_

Whilst not strictly writing or creative as such (although I will write about it afterwards!), it’s still following my guiding word ā€˜courage’ that’s pushing me out of my comfort zone to try new things.
If I can do this, then I can also write and create more, in fact they’ll seem a doddles after this! šŸ˜‚šŸ«£
Can’t share links on here, but if anyone would like to purchase a spectator ticket to come to Lawrence Batley Theatre on 8th August, or to donate to the JustGiving page, please ask and I’ll DM the details to you! šŸ’ššŸ”„ by @_yorkshire_threads_

When you have a creative brain like mine that can fire off in a thousand directions at once, it’s sometimes hard to choose which way you want to start a new project.

In my mind’s eye I can see the end result, but the getting there is less clear at times.

I come from a long line of creative women, and this was brought home again recently when I rediscovered work my mum and grandma had done decades ago, along with some of my O-level pieces (that’ll tell you how old I am! 😁)

It got me thinking about creating a kind of exhibition where I could share this work, along with some recent pieces created by me and my youngest daughter - four generations of creative women - and talk about the ideas and talents that run through the genes and also the environmental factors that make you, you.

Sounds good, you say, but where do I begin, and what shape would it take? What’s the point of sharing all this creative wealth?

Well, for decades I didn’t believe I was an artist or writer - partly perfectionism and partly being surrounded by so much all my childhood makes it a commonplace thing, not that special.

However, I’ve changed my mind in recent years, cos everyone’s allowed to do so, and I’m quite proud of this lineage, and feel it needs to be celebrated.

So here’s a few images to begin with to help keep me accountable to this treasure trove, some dating back almost a hundred years to my grandma’s teenage work.

I believe it’s important to keep telling these stories about how women created inbetween other jobs, squeezed into evenings when children were asleep, how they didn’t give themselves time or permission to declare they were ā€˜real’ artists. It’s not too late for me to tell these stories now, I’d be glad of the company along the way! šŸ’š by @_yorkshire_threads_

Look at these fabulous feet! Being a lover of feet, I couldn’t resist touching them and photographing them.

On Tuesday I had the enormous privilege of attending ā€œA First Look at The Emily Siddon Buildingā€ @huddersfielduni named after an amazing local pioneer of Victorian era bringing change to healthcare in this area.

Thank you to Juliet @fromseed_tosky for highlighting this event to Wow Team. And to @straightforwardfunding and @_yorkshire_threads_ for your wonderful company. šŸ’š

Hugely impressed with the facilities available in the building for the students and the spaces available for businesses with innovative ideas for health and wellbeing to develop their products and ideas in this setting. Who knows what amazing collaborative ideas could grow from here?

The amazing feet belong to a state of the art mannekin in the xray room. And the only MRI simulator in the country resides here, to teach and learn about making the MRI experience the best it can be for patients, working on ways to support those anxious like me in a tight space, as an example. Just a snippet of what was there. If you are curious find out more through the university website.

Architecturally, I loved the big windows in the building, offering great views of Huddersfield and beyond, including the tops of those wonderful Victorian buildings we don’t always look up at and admire.

What a wonderful day, thank you to @huddersfielduni and The Huddersfield Health Innovation Incubator for the opportunity šŸ’ššŸ’œšŸ’š by @_yorkshire_threads_
