POSTS STORIES REELS

Postcards 🇳🇦 by @_zondikhanyi

Not sure why posting on here feels so cringe sometimes 😅 but throwing it back to a few months ago, yapping about all things PR at Fame Week. A core memory for this comms nerd! ✨ by @_zondikhanyi

@_thelitsocialclub july read.

First of all, plagiarism is absolutely unacceptable 😩

The narrative voice in this book is sharp, brilliant, socially incisive and delightfully manipulative, laced with a subtle, dark humour.

The writing maintains a clear-eyed, near-perfect sense of pitch, pace, rhythm and energy, with barely any missteps. Its use of arcane social media lingo strikes a balance between the joy of familiarity and avoiding tired clichés.

As someone working in marketing and publicity, I was thoroughly entertained by the way the book satirised the marketing of a plagiarised novel. The commentary on book marketing highlighted aspects I had never even considered as a marketer, which I found fascinating.

The book’s themes are broad, well-explored and deeply satisfying. It navigates topics such as identity politics, tokenism, performative outrage and the perils of overnight fame.

Yet, threading through all of this is a deeper examination of cancel culture and the fragile yet terrifyingly real nature of social media dog-piling

Impilo muva nje.

Hosted by one of my fave institutions emhlabeni. It was such a beautiful time, a thoughtfully curated space for creatives. Still so grateful to have been part of it 🤍 by @_zondikhanyi

I was reminiscing with an industry friend about the days ukuthi ekhaya was one of the few houses on the street without electricity. I can’t quite recall if it was due to affordability or compliance issue but either way, it meant no TV at home.

TV time meant heading over to our neighbor’s house, much to her dismay. My uncle would settle in for the izindaba zango 7, my cousins for their soccer matches or wrestling and everyone else for the soapies. And when uMaZwane wasn’t too happy with our crowd, we would grab Isolezwe or Ilanga newspapers, flipping to the back to catch the latest TV updates.

Years later, I’m here, writing about films—not for those same papers, but for publications I never dreamed I’d contribute to. Even wilder, I now have the privilege of watching films before they’re released, sent straight to me. It’s a pinch-me moment every time because back then, this life felt so far away.

Funny how life works, right?

Anyway, poverty shouldn’t be your friend. Go check out the article ✨ by @_zondikhanyi

A Day in the Life of a Film Marketer
Postcards from Addis | Praying for more days like these in 2025, yapping about films, and maybe, just maybe, less awkwardness when posting on this app. 😩 by @_zondikhanyi

Lesotho had us reflecting on This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection—a powerful reminder that the beauty of film always stays with you 🤍 by @_zondikhanyi

My phone just reminded me—this time last year, we hosted our first gathering. Honestly, I want to do so much more of this next year. @sinema.africa had my full attention this year (and I’m grateful) but in 2025? It’s all about more community, more films, and more moments like these. Let’s make it happen bandla 👀 by @_zondikhanyi
