POSTS STORIES REELS

W e are officially A BAKERS NOTES!!
.
Walking in to the city council meeting circle was a bit intimidating, until they invited us up to the microphone. They asked us to share our story. That’s when we felt the most comfortable. Sharing our hearts comes easy for us. We started by introducing ourselves + our hearts came to the fore. I shared our main motivation for starting our very own cottage bakery business. My voice started to break when I spoke about Skarlette + her cancer journey. Just when my lips started to tremble, I turned to look at my girl + our eyes locked. I could see her joy + pride of becoming her very own business owner. She filled my heart with courage at that very moment. She’s no longer sick + fighting for her life. Shes here! She’s strong. She’s courageous. She’s healthy + ready for long dough + bake days.
.
Here we are…… ready for a n e w adventure!!!

A girl + her dog!
.
As we worked in the kitchen together, I would glance over at her + I would feel a lump come up into my throat. A lump filled with gratitude + admiration. When she was battling cancer….. there were a few times we didn’t think she would make it + we had to say goodbye!! My heart felt as if it had shattered into so many bits + shards. So when I get to do life with her…. my heart heals a bit more everyday. All the bits + shards are fusing back together.
.
So spending time in our cottage bakery together is a dream come true. We have music going. We dance. We laugh + we’re quiet as we work side by side. It’s absolutely wonderful! We are soul bakers!
.
When we found out how sick she really was, I gave her a word to focus on. One that would carry her through. I gave her the word badassary.
.
Badassary: engaging in seemingly impossible activities + achieving success in a manner that renders all onlookers completely awestruck
.
She’s still badassary + lives with intention. Our whole family does.
.
Thank you for being a part of our dream

2 0 2 1 was a life changing year for us! It feels good to come out of the fight + finally walk in the light.
.
We are on a new adventure!!!

We have brought our creative forces together to open up our very own cottage bakery. We are so close to getting approved. Our city planner will present our request to the city council on February 6th + recommend us for approval. We are thrilled!
.
We are so ready to walk through an adventure of healing our hearts. They say it takes a decade to heal from cancer. It feels good to stand back + watch her do life! I’m so touched that I get to be the one to work side by side with her. Lady S + I will shape sourdough clouds + bring them into our community.

Our O l i v e + Rosemary loaf will be added to our menu this week. We use Castlevetrano olives because they are buttery + creamy. They add a beautiful softness + flavor to the loaf. The rosemary is from our garden + we give it a fine chop so the flavor is there but not in the bite. It’s a beautiful dough to work with. I can see this loaf on the dinner table or on a charcuterie board.
.
We use organic flours in our bakery + a fine ancient sea salt that’s unrefined.

J a d e has been in the kitchen the last few weeks working on a few new scone + muffin recipes. She’s like a chemist in a lab. I so love to watch her create. She is still working on creating that perfect bite for each of her bakes + she is determined to make it happen. She has made one change in our bakery when it comes to her bakes. She no longer uses sourdough discard. She makes a fresh wild yeast sourdough levain each time for all her bakes. Once her scones, cookies, or muffins are mixed, she lets them sit on the counter for a minimum of two hours so the wild yeast can ferment. Giving the dough time to ferment makes her bakes more beneficial to the gut. Her bakes are softer, fuller, + full of flavor.
.
She also made her infamous Gingerbread Muffins yesterday so she can find her groove with those since they are seasonal. She didn’t forget a thing. They were delicious! She brewed a pot of coffee for us too. The house smelled of fall. It was wonderful.
.
The Gingerbread Muffins will be on the menu for our Friday, October 30th pick up
.
Thank you for supporting our bakery 🤎

S o m e children have a hard time eating sourdough because of the crust + sourness so we are adding a sourdough sandwich loaf to our bakery. It’s baked on the same day as dough day so it’s less sour but it still has all the benefits sourdough brings. We use organic flour, organic honey, + grass fed butter in our loaf. It’s fluffy, beautiful, + scrumptious.
.
Happy Friday

L i f e has kept us busy + heavy. We lost a dear friend a few weeks ago. He was only 26 + was so close to hitting his second year wedding anniversary. This loss hurt tremendously. It was another reminder of how fragile life is. Hold your loved ones closer + tighter. Say the I love you’s + the yes’s to spending time together. .

Waking up early isn’t part of my usual routine but since I’ve started this journey of being a sourdough micro bakery owner, I’ve started to appreciate the early morning. It allows me to get lost in the magic of making pastries, the dark weather allows me to watch the house slowly come alive and bask in the smells of fresh baked pastries and morning coffee. #microbakery #motherdaughterduo #sourdoughmicrobakery #sourdoughmicrobaker #smallbusiness #smallbusinesssupportingsmallbusiness #fyp #sourdoughpastries by @a.bakers.notes

C i n n a m o n Babka was magical. The process made me slow down because this bread takes time to come to life. The cinnamon + brown sugar buttery filling smells absolutely delicious. I may twist it differently next time. I want more of that scrumptious filling throughout the loaf.
