W o r k i n g on a quilt in between the quiet moments of dough day. I’m sitting at my kitchen table cutting up these darling fabrics + my kitchen smells of toasted sesame seeds + creamy oats. It’s wonderful + it’s a beautiful day. The sun rays are beaming in through the windows but there’s still a crisp in the air. I exhale as I sit here. I’m soaking in these beautiful quiet moments. Its my favorite time of the year. This time of year makes me feel anchored. It reminds me to be more intentional with my love + to relish the season I’m in.
.
Most of my fabrics are Riley Blake + it’s the beginning of the beautiful Homestead Star quilt. I can never get enough stars. Making a quilt for the first baby in our family. My sweet niece is bringing a baby girl into our family early next year. @berlynskii
We can’t wait to celebrate her.

T h i s quilt holds so much of my heart. I included so many special pieces that I’ve been holding onto for years. She made me a happy giver ♥️

L i f e has kept me so busy. Mostly good things but a few sad ones. Finding time to sit in front of my machine has been challenging so I carved out time for this block this afternoon. I finally felt a bit more like me today. Working an iron + my tools to achieve perfect points + cuts felt healing. I was able to get lost in the beauty of fabric + stitching. I so miss this side of me. Working my hands + bringing things to life felt wonderful.

This block is from Sara @farmandfolk She’s hosting a sew along + I’m thrilled to learn from her + add to my skill set.

I haven’t had much time behind my machine because life has kept me busy. So when I grabbed my vintage cosmetic case + opened it, I felt myself exhaling. It’s all so beautiful! Even seeing my vintage box of itty bitty things made me happy. Simple things can be so beautiful + they fill my heart. I can’t wait to sit behind my machine, bring fabric to life, + eat soup all day.

W h e n e v e r I feel quiet is when I feel the most inspired. I thrive in my recluse tendencies. Slowing down to fill my soul makes me feel my magic again. I tend to organize + make everything beautiful. In my pursuit of creating space, I found a box I had stashed away in my closet. It’s filled with my most cherished fabrics. I found velvets, raw silks, + lace waiting for me to bring them to life. I’m swooning. It feels wonderful to have space in my mind for dreaming again.

H e a l i n g from cancer has been a journey all on its own. The triggers + the glimmers have collided + we find ourselves on the other side of the hurt.
.
Lady S had a doctors appointment a few weeks ago. We were braced + ready to get hit with bad news because it sort of became our normal. We walked into the room + they took her vitals. Hearing the velcro of the blood pressure cuff come off made me feel nauseas. We both had so much anxiety. We both felt emotional. Seeing others in the infusions center. Seeing the worry on the families faces. It hits our hearts hard. We felt the trembles run through our bodies + we could hear it in each others voices. We waited for the doctor to walk in. Then we heard the knock. The doctor is here. It was a new doctor this round. A handsome tall well fit man. He brought a calmness with him. He had a gentle quiet voice. He made time for her. He listened with his heart. Her concerns became his concerns. It was beautiful! After he examined her he sat back down right in front of her + looked right into her eyes + he uttered those beautiful words we’ve been waiting for. He said she no longer needed scans or blood work until she hit her 5 year mark of remission, which will be in two and a half years. We’ve been waiting so long for those words. It feels as if we finally made it out of the tunnel.
.
It’s been a challenge to absorb the good news. It still hasn’t fully entered my heart. I’ve been fighting for so long it’s as if my shield has melted in to the palm of my hand. It’s hard to let go. It’s frightening to let go. The what ifs are loud but then, I remind myself + her, that none of us know what life will be like tomorrow. It’s time to step out of the tunnel into the golden rays of the light of day + feel the warmth on our faces. Tears roll down our faces.
It’s o v e r!
.
She’s a healthy, passionate, creative, spiritual, beautiful woman + she’s thriving!
.
We are so proud of her for coming out of this with strength, courage, wonder, + magic. by @quiet.sanctuary

I’ve been craving the process of bread making. The process does something to me. I guess it feeds that creative side of me. I get out my pretty bowl, linens + tools. I relish in the quiet. Being alone with my thoughts as I try to work things out in my head so my thoughts can reach my heart. The process of being creative feels like magic. It’s as if I’m in a story where everything is beautiful! The mixing, the throwing, the stretching, + the shaping…… it does something to my soul. I so love to make pretty things. I feel shift in me. As if though I’m being realigned. It’s a beautiful way to get lost in the process. I felt a calmness come over me once they went into the fridge for the rest of the fermentation process. I live to wake up the next morning + bake them. Watching them come to life in an array of golden tones. It’s truly a process I crave daily.

I f e e l as if every part of me starts to fade away when the summer months arrive. I seem to go in a hibernation. I don’t feel inspired to do much. I’m just counting down the days + looking for a hint of summer coming to an end. When the nights start to cool off, I feel a spark deep within me…. I feel myself coming back to life! I thrive in a short day + ominous sky! The trees seem to look darker more majestic in their reach for the sky. My house feels colder so I layer up + I bake the day away. My candles are lit. The music is going. The friends start to pour in…. + I crochet in the nooks + crannies of doing life in my favorite season
.
I a d o r e granny squares!!!!!
.
I have a stash of fiber that I’ve been collecting for a few years now. It just sits in this old vintage doctor bag. It’s full of beautiful shades of color just waiting to be caked + stitched but I just didn’t feel inspired until I came across Bonnies’ @greenletterday beautiful pallet stitched up in a Puff Granny. This was it! I felt the pull! I stitched one up yesterday + she is tiny! I absolutely love her! I can’t wait to cake my stash + be just be still…. as I bring these itty bitty blocks to life.

S u n d a y mornings are my favorite day of the week. I think of my dad every day. I so miss his laugh! Sundays were my time with my dad so he’s on my mind a little heavier than usual. It’s funny how the body remembers a routine. Even tho it’s been a year, I still have to remind myself that my dad is gone.

So I get myself out of bed early. I put on my favorite house dress + wear my dad’s favorite shirt. I go out to my garden to pull weeds + watch the sunrise make everything glow with the most beautiful golden shades. The birds sound so beautiful. I just sit there with my feet in the dirt + just breathe. Sometimes I burst into laughter because I remember something funny he said + sometimes I weep because there are times I wish I could talk to him.

I love my Sunday mornings.
