Winter holds this contrasting duality — one that feels cold, militant and deliberate in its way. It can also feel innocent and fragile.

This duality can be applied to how we curate art and approach our creative process. Setting the tone for what the spring will bring.

Even a perky and bubbly artist, like myself, can have down days or moments that feel hopeless and empty but my partner and a few friends really helped me to get it together. The work I need to get done includes work on myself.

It was only a year ago today, I would revisit my most vulnerable and traumatic experiences to paint my first self portrait. Regardless of the intimidation or fear of failure to create a “good painting “, it was a portrayal of self, that needed to be seen, heard and forgiven. I allowed the child in me to tell his story.
