POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

THE RULE is up.
Our film for the 48 Hour Film Horror Project. We got the genre Friday night, I wrote it overnight, we shot the whole thing in one day at my house, and it was cut and turned in before the clock ran out. First thing I ever directed.
Final cut landed tonight with the score on it. It's done. This is the version that stands.
The Heathens showed up and worked a twelve hour day for no money and didn't complain once. Every bit of this is theirs as much as mine.

Our graphic designer nailed it.

We got handed witchcraft and voodoo Friday night. I stayed up and wrote it, we shot it Saturday, twelve hours straight, and it was cut and turned in Sunday.

It's out today.

My short story BEFORE THE NIGHT FALLS is in the Q4 Haunted Holidays issue of Night Terror Magazine, in print, with my name on it.

The story is built on the Jólakötturinn, the Icelandic Yule Cat. Old folklore, the kind that was told to children on purpose. The cat comes down at Christmas and takes anyone who didn't get new clothes. My version is about a family who asks for help, and what the asking costs them.

They ran the competition blind. Seventy-six submissions, no names attached, and they picked three one was me.

Pick up the issue if you like your horror cold and old.

Forty-eight hours, one house, and a witchcraft and voodoo genre draw.
That's what the he. He. Heathens. got handed Friday night for the Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Horror Project. Wrote it overnight, shot it Saturday, twelve hours straight.

And we had Bobbi Van Eman in it. Pittsburgh horror lineage, the real thing, and she came out and did the work with us. First film I've ever directed and she's in the cast. Still doesn't feel real.

Proud of every person who showed up this weekend.

Screens at the Rangos October 9.

Meet the Heathens.

He. He. Heathens. is my team for the Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Horror Project. We shoot Saturday.

Writers, actors, camera, sound, makeup, grips. Some of these people I've known for years, some I met a few weeks ago, and a couple of them I only know from a comment on a post. All of them said yes to spending a Saturday in my house making a horror movie in forty-eight hours for no money.

That's the whole thing right there. You can't buy that.

We write it Friday night, shoot it Saturday, cut it Sunday, and it screens at the Rangos October 9.

Proud of this group already. Let's go make something.

ACTION!

It's out.
I sold a story. It's live today on the CREEPY podcast, under a name that isn't this one.
First fiction sale of my life. A stranger read it, wanted it, and paid for it. That one only happens once.

My first book. A memoir about the things I didn't see until I looked back.
It comes out on my 37th birthday, which wasn't planned, but it turns out that's the right day for a book about the first thirty-six.
Follow along here. I'll post the link the day it's live.

A. J. MORGART ENTERTAINMENT

Every company needs a card. This is mine.

The ouroboros because the circle keeps closing. Help them to help me, and it comes back around. That's been the whole engine of this run.

The skull and the moon because horror is where this all started.

Color card for standard. Black and white for anything shot in monochrome.

First time it hits a screen is at the front of my own film this September.
