an ode to the ordinary 🥄

there’s something so beautiful about seeing an everyday object through the eyes of a craftsman. each spoon thoughtfully carved by hand, with its own little details, shapes and imperfections.

a lovely reminder that even the most ordinary things can be works of art.

pov: you’re travelling with a type-a content creator 📋

jeju is definitely not small, and getting from one spot to another can take a while, so having a planned itinerary really helped us maximise our time!

as much as i would’ve loved to jam-pack our days and visit as many places as possible, i was also constantly reminded to slow down, leave some room in the schedule, and actually enjoy the views along the way.

a little disclaimer: some days might look emptier because we spent a few mornings staying in our accoms to shoot and get some work done!! definitely not the best itinerary i’ve planned, but it worked really well for us.

the cafe: 🌳🦆🍃🧺

somewhere between a cafe and a garden, and exactly where i wanted to spend my afternoon.

when i first found this place, i couldn’t believe all of this was tucked behind such an unassuming little building. maybe it’s the city girl in me, but sitting outside with a drink, watching the ducks and doing absolutely nothing felt like such a luxury.

definitely somewhere i’d come back to when jeju gets a little cooler 🌿 by @a.mander

i fear the airbnb might have been one of the highlights of the trip 💭

slow mornings by the window, evenings when the light filled the entire room, and a corner desk that made me want to sit there and do absolutely nothing.

when being asked "are you a photographer?", i still hesitate to say yes.

i never studied photography professionally. i don’t know all the rules, and more often than not, i find myself shooting based on feeling rather than principles.

i just know when something feels worth capturing.

of course, there’s only so far feeling can take me. there’s still so much room for me to grow, and so much more for me to learn.

i don’t hope to take the most perfect photo. i just hope my photos can convey what i felt in that moment - and maybe, in some small way, let you experience it too. by @a.mander

somewhere along the jeju coast 🌊

one last part of my jeju dump (but this is not the end of my jeju reccs!!) one thing we kept saying throughout the trip was, "we're so lucky!" and i really think we were.

i'm a type A planner through and through, i had a detailed itinerary planned out, with all the places i want to visit but there were so many factors i couldn't have planned for like the weather and traffic.

but not following the itinerary led us to even better places i would rather go to and i guess that's the beauty of a slow city like jeju. we might not always go to where we planned to, but we'll definitely end up where we're meant to be. taken in Jeju Island, Korea by @a.mander

scenes from the passenger seat 🚙

my past 2 trips were with family, and they were shorter too, so we had a schedule to adhere to since the travel time between each place can be quite long.

this time round, there were moments where we would just stop in the middle of nowhere because someone said, "oh, that looks nice!" (me, most of the time..)

i like how i subconsciously want to slow down in jeju, how i could just sit and watch the waves if time allowed me to. perhaps we all could use this reminder, to stop and enjoy the view we work so hard to see. taken in Jeju Island, Korea by @a.mander
