CHANGE OF DIRECTION5 YARD BILATERAL DECELSLATERAL DROP TO ACCEL REACTIONARY RACEACCEL -> MULTI-CUT RACEREACTIONARY COD TAGHere’s some clips from a change of direction session with some of our high school/college football athletes. Missed some of the decel prep before building to full speeds.Incorporating competition and reaction based work to change of direction is always great. Nothing better for athletes to react to than other athletes.Give the last drill a try to build better change of directionāš”ļøšŸ¤Looking to improve your athletic performance? 🚨 TRAINER THURSDAY 🚨Every Thursday, our coaches break down an exercise and explain the benefits behind itThis Week: Depth Drop → Max Vertical Jump ā¬‡ļøā¬†ļøThis is one of our favorite drills for developing explosive athletes because it teaches the body to absorb force before producing it. Athletes learn to land with control, transition quickly, and explode off the ground with maximum intent.Benefits include:āš”ļø Increased vertical jumpāš”ļø Improved reactive strength and explosivenessāš”ļø Faster acceleration and first-step quicknessāš”ļø Better landing mechanics and deceleration controlāš”ļø Greater lower-body power transferWant to train like an athlete? šŸ’ŖDM ā€œTRAINā€ to learn more about how we can help you improve your athletic performance. šŸ”„šŸ¤šŸŽ„ Shot by @builtbyslice by @a.o.f.training

The Mental Reps Matter. Most athletes think performance is built entirely through physical training. But the reality is that many of the biggest moments in sports are won before they ever happen.Research on visualization and motor imagery has shown that mentally rehearsing a skill activates many of the same pathways used during physical practice. When you vividly see yourself making the play, hitting the shot, executing the lift, or winning the rep, your brain is preparing for the real thing. In simple terms: if you can repeatedly experience success in your mind, you’ll be more prepared when the moment actually arrives.Elite athletes don’t just train their bodies—they train their minds. They’ve already played through the pressure situations, adversity, and big moments hundreds of times before they ever step onto the field.Stop treating mental training as optional. The athletes who perform best under pressure are often the ones who have already lived the moment in their head before it ever happened.DM MINDSET if you want to learn how elite athletes use mental training to gain a competitive edge. šŸ§ āš”ļø by @a.o.f.training

Most athletes think confidence means never having doubts.Jalen Brunson just proved that’s not true. When asked what was going through his mind during a huge deficit, he admitted he thought about the worst-case scenario. But then he followed it up with something every athlete needs to hear:ā€œYou’re allowed to think about the worst possible scenario, but then you have to go out there and do something about it.ā€That’s what real confidence looks like.Confidence isn’t the absence of fear, doubt, or negative thoughts. It’s the ability to keep taking action despite them. The best athletes don’t waste energy trying to eliminate every negative thought. They accept that those thoughts will show up and stay committed to the actions that give them a chance to succeed.Your mind doesn’t have to be perfect for you to perform at a high level. You just have to keep competing.DM us MINDSET if you want to learn how elite athletes build mental toughness and perform under pressure. by @a.o.f.training

The best natural performance enhancer is competition. If you want to see athletes push the boundaries of their performance their needs to be intent behind their training & nothing drives intent like competing.I’d highly recommend athletes of any sport to use these drills to improve your change of direction game.āš”ļøDM us ā€œTRAINā€ of your looking to improve your athletic performance. by @a.o.f.training

Some deceleration/change of direction work with one our college running backs. The best athletes have great brakes. Deceleration is one of the most overlooked qualities in athletic performance. Most athletes focus on how fast they can accelerate, but the ability to slow down, control your body, and redirect force is what separates good athletes from great ones.If you can’t absorb force efficiently, you can’t change direction efficiently.Make sure you train your brakesā€¼ļøIf you’re looking for performance training, DM us ā€œTRAINā€ to see how we can help youšŸ¤ by @a.o.f.training
