Sometimes the best design isn't adding more floor area, it's about paying attention to what's been there all along. Revisiting it recently was a good reminder that the original question was the right one.

Have you seen Bunker 681?
Once a WWII personnel shelter now a unique beachside home (and all it took was a bit of vision & A LOT of grit!)

Patterns are like people. It’s not about getting everyone to match; it’s about making sure they get on.

Stripes with florals? Absolutely.
Bold with understated? Even better.
A little bit unexpected? That’s where things get interesting.

Great interiors aren’t about everything matching. They’re about everything working together.

Want to get your mix right? Talk to Sophie. ✨

One of the things we enjoy most about architecture—seeing possibilities long before anyone else can.

The very beginning of an exciting journey! by @a7architectureltd

Some houses look good in the landscape. The best ones feel like they belong there.
So, this home was never about dropping a statement building onto the site and hoping everyone would admire the contrast, it needed to sit with its surroundings and to feel connected throughout every season.
Because a great home shouldn't only work for the sunny photographs. It has to earn its keep in February too. by @a7architectureltd

This house has two favourite ways to end the day.

A rooftop terrace for sunset chasers.

A private cinema for everyone else.

Both come with stars.

One just happens to be indoors. ✨

A site with two personalities.

A peaceful wooded backdrop to the rear and uninterrupted coastal views to the front.

Rather than turning its back on one to celebrate the other, we designed the house to connect both. As you move through the home, the journey takes you from the shelter of the woodland to the openness of the sea, with changing light and views shaping the experience throughout the day.

Windswept walks, early morning sea swims and evenings spent watching the sun disappear over the horizon, looking forward to getting this one off the ground soon.

National Dog Day was last week. We’re only slightly late. 🐶

So, naturally, we decided to match the A7 dogs to their owners.

Because apparently the quickest way to understand an architect is to meet their dog. by @a7architectureltd

FIFTEEN YEARS OF GED. 👏

That’s a serious amount of drawings... many, many, site meetings and far too many “just one tiny change”

Ged has been part of the building industry for over 30 years and with A7 for the last 15, which means he’s seen a lot of change and probably wondered why we keep making his life difficult. Through it all, he’s been the calm one, the technical expert but more importantly the guy who somehow knows where to find that drawing from 2014!

So today we’re celebrating Ged, here’s to the next 15! by @a7architectureltd
