Tasting Domaine Mugnier's '18 Musigny out of barrel was a surreal experience, especially after having Les Amoureuses and Clos de la Maréchale just before it.

Our conversation was one of the most memorable of the trip, focusing on the ups and downs of a perfect vintage like '05 or a completely imperfect vintage like '13, the emotionality of Les Amoureuses, and the kind of Burgundy that future generations of wine drinkers will enjoy.

The visit was capped off with a '13 Les Amoureuses, '05 Clos de la Maréchale, and '97 Musigny to give context to our discussion. Some moments I'll never forget thanks to the generosity of a living legend.

Pictured is a moment while tasting Dominique Lafon's Montrachet from barrel last week--one of a hundred other moments I never thought I'd have. If you'd have told me a year ago that this trip was something I'd be a part of, I probably would have called you crazy. But then it happened and I'll be forever grateful and inspired.

Thank you @danieljohnnes , @rajvine , and @maxgoldbergliu of @lapaulee for hosting us on such an unforgettable experience.

@arnitingan , @jerschwartz74 , and @classic.catubig -- I couldn't have asked for a better group to share this with.

Thanks @peinbund and @tell_me_sommthing_good for your mentorship and commitment to my growth as a sommelier, and to @kosta_sf the rest of the @themorris_sf staff. Without you, this wouldn't have been possible.

This little floof turns 1 today. It's been a wild ride, but @flaxyseed and I couldn't have asked for a better pupper. by @a_c_cummings

One year later... Or maybe it's 10? Either way, she's still my favorite.

This is after we tasted at Domaine Weinbach. Just Jen and I and one of the owners, Eddy, sitting in their living room tasting through their 2017s. A bit of a different experience than the tasting rooms up in Napa! by @a_c_cummings
