Ketchikan: Hunting for Big Foot 👀🌲
Our final port day was a shorter one, we weren’t able to get off until 2PM in Ketchikan so we spent the morning having a delicious brunch at Palo and lazing around the top deck.

Ketchikan is one of the wettest cities in North America, so much so residents use the rain as the water system for their houses…. But somehow, we got NO rain yet again!

Our adventure for the day was hunting for Big Foot (LOL…) I mostly booked this tour so we had the opportunity to do a walk through the Alaskan rainforest. We had a great time seeing how mossy their forests are and taking in the beauty of their old trees. We did spy a big foot amongst the trees (he’s hiding in one of the forest photos, see if you can find him) and we got to take a selfie with him. It was silly, but just stupid enough to be memorable hahahaha. We also go to try spruce tips, which they make jams and other goodies with in Alaska! It was actually quite good, a little citrusy.

After that, we walked around Ketchikan and saw Creek St which was their former “red light district” and made our way back to the ship where Mike took a picture of me as I jokingly posed, but it’s the only photo I have on the deck in Ketchikan so it will have to do. 😂

Ketchikan was the biggest city we were in so it was a very different port from the others, but there was a lot to see and explore there.

It was a wonderful way to end our Alaskan port days. 🏔️🌲 taken in Ketchikan, Alaska by @a_la_jodes

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah Alaska) 🌲🏔️🚡🐋
This day started out a little rocky, we were up at 6AM for our Zodiac whale watching tour that got cancelled when we got out to the dock. So we started the day with a few quiet gondola rides up the mountain to see the views. Came back down and booked ourselves on another whale watching cruise on a bigger boat. We saw tons of humpback whales, including a Mama and her baby! The baby was playing with sea lions and we got to see it splash and flip around!! 🐋

We were so unbelievably lucky with weather, every port day we had sunshine and we even got to see a mountain range called Fairweather Mountains that can ONLY be seen around 5 times a year (since it requires fair weather to see it!). Normally it’s shrouded in fog, so that was extremely cool! It’s located on the Canadian Alaska border, and has the tallest mountain in BC in it. 🏔️

We also saw Puffins, which to my surprise were very very tiny! I could barely get a photo of them, but they are the two little specs on the water haha! We also saw some lady sea lions lounging on a big metal buoy. Queens.

We took another trip up the mountain Gondola for more views and made our way to the beach where Mike stepped in the pacific for the first time! It was cold but actually kind of refreshing. 🌊

We did some exploring around the boardwalk shops and enjoyed the amazing weather. We tried to soak it in as much as possible because we knew how rare such a beautiful day was!

Mike used the warm weather as his opportunity to do the AquaDunk drop slide on board and we cozied up to watch stare at the beautiful scenery until it was time for our Broadway style show of Tangled! 🤍

It ended up being an amazing port that felt truly “Alaska” as it was so nature focused. The entire place is owned and operated by the Huna Totem village corporation, which is owned by 1400 shareholders with Alaskan Native ancestry tied to the Tlingit tribe and Hoonah and Glacier Bay Areas. If we ever go back, I want to be sure this port is on the list! 🏔️🐋🐻🦭 taken in Icy Strait Point, Hoonah, Alaska by @a_la_jodes

Skagway + Yukon 🏔️🚂⛏️
We started another beautiful day in Skagway, Alaska! But our excursion took us back into Canada. We traveled through northern British Columbia, passed through Fraser, and crossed into the Yukon for a stop in Carcross (formerly known as Caribou Crossing).

Exploring Carcross was incredible. Seeing the Carcross Desert sitting right in the middle of the mountains was absolutely amazing. We also got to meet a couple of sled dog teams and saw a National Historic Site of Canada on the Chilkoot Trail. We saw “The Log Cabin,” which the North-West Mounted Police used to inspect hopeful prospectors before they took on the grueling 33-mile trek up the Chilkoot Pass to the Yukon gold fields during the Klondike Gold Rush.

For the trip back, we boarded the historic White Pass and Yukon Route Railway. Honestly, pictures cannot do this route justice. The engineering is unbelievable, and the train clings to the mountainside to give you a completely unique, jaw-dropping vantage point. It was definitely a major highlight of the trip. Plus, every vintage train car had its own cozy stove, which of course I just had to take a photo of.

The train brought us all the way back to Skagway, where we ended our day exploring the historic town.

We are so incredibly happy we decided to take this excursion back into Canada. Seeing the Yukon was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. The scenery on the journey there and back was almost surreal, the kind of views that are so beautiful it is hard to believe they are actually real. It is definitely a day we will never forget. ❄️🏔️ taken in White Pass & Yukon Route by @a_la_jodes

Glacier Day ❄️🗻🚢
It was a little chilly and rainy, but we did get to see the Dawes Glacier through the fog! We spent this day relaxing with hot drinks and blankets watching nature go by. We even spotted a humpback whale right beside the ship from our loungers! As we pulled out of the Endicott Arm and away from the Glacier, we had dinner at Palo for the first time! We enjoyed spectacular views of the mountains, saw more wildlife jumping in the ocean from our table, had delicious Italian food, and even saw a rainbow (the window reflections made the pictures little tricky haha!). It was the perfect introduction to Alaska. 🤍 taken in Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier by @a_la_jodes

Disney Magic Dump 🪄
Our third cruise brought us to the original Disney ship! We had an amazing time soaking in the Alaskan landscape, enjoying delicious food with our wonderful dining room team, winning trivia (finally!!), seeing amazing live shows and the premier of The Mandalorian and Grogu, daily trips to the spa, plus so much more. Mike even found a warm enough day to conquer the AquaDunk drop slide!

I’ll be posting our Alaskan adventures soon, but wanted to highlight the fun we had on the way to and from as well. 🤍✨🚢 taken in Inside Passage Alaska by @a_la_jodes
