SOLAR SYSTEM is back for 2025 with a special DJ set from Abby Echiverri and two live sets from the organizers, A Tripp and Fuzzyy.

Abby Echiverri is a multi-dimensional musician whose practice spans production, DJing, live performance, and audio engineering. Classically trained in violin, flute, piano, and vocals—with a youth spent digging for records and studying recording, and years spent manufacturing and maintaining audio equipment for studios and clubs—she possesses a rare combination of talent, taste, and the technical fluency to express it through sound systems. Behind critically acclaimed releases on @thebunkerny and @dfarecs, her most recent record, Ubi Sunt, sees her leaning further into a singular blend of infectious polyrhythms and dub-inflected sound design. Not afraid of leaving the studio—her unforgettable live set at Fourth World a few years ago still echoes—Abby continues to DJ regularly in NYC and tours globally as a member of @lcdsoundsystem.

At the heart of SOLAR SYSTEM is a one-of-a-kind hi-fi system (@echoic.systems) operating entirely off the grid. Powered by batteries charged with solar energy and buttressed by on-site panels, SOLAR SYSTEM rises and falls with the sun, offering a glimpse of a smaller, more sustainable musical future.

Release Day Today!! ✨✨ 2 Know U EP by @abelsonlive & @xhosamusic

toucan sounds starts 2025 with a collaboration between Abelson Live, aka Brian Abelson, and XHOSA.

First up is the original House mix of Abelson Live and XHOSA’s ‘2 Know U’, a low-slung groove with bouncing chords and pumping drums that bring a timeless vibe while XHOSA’s vocal adds soul.

Their Acid mix then layers in subtle 303 lines that bubble up through the mix and grow evermore central to the groove before XHOSA flips the original into a humid and steamy sound with smartly rated vocals shimmering about the mix next to spoken word snippets and seductive pads.

Next, ‘2 Know U’ is remixed by Solar System, consisting of Aaron Tripp and Brian Abelson, known for curating open-air, solar-powered parties in New York under the same monicker. They up the melodics as lush chords bring cosmic rays of light, the original vocal taking on a heavenly charm.

Lastly, JWords steps up to remix Abelson Live and XHOSA’s original track with her jackin’ version featuring rugged drums and rave-ready whistles, which will blow up the 'floor next to the harmonised vocals.

Over the last 10 years, XHOSA has established herself as a trailblazing artist within the New York scene and beyond, playing anywhere from VIA FEST to SXSW.

Here, she joins forces with Abelson Live, whose versatile sounds have appeared on labels like Beats in Space, Sinderlyn, and Love Injection (with Jennifer Vanilla) and once before on the celebrated Brooklyn label Toucan Sounds, where he worked with John Barera on their collaborative album, ‘The Arc’. by @aaaaaaaaarontripp

Hello there. We are excited to invite you to the next edition of SOLAR SYSTEM on Saturday, June 29th, in Highland Park, Queens. This will be the second of three Solar events this summer, with our final gathering on Sunday, July 21st.

This round Yibing (@yowaitup) will be on the controls. Over the past few years, she has carved out her place in the NYC music community, known for her ability to set the vibe with thematic sets ranging from dreamy, chuggy, and downtempo to nostalgic shoegaze and Canto-pop.

She hosts Tranquilamente Radio on @thelotradio, is a resident DJ of @thelevelparty , and throws her own party, @strictlybiz.nyc. Yibing also makes frequent appearances as a guest at parties like @weird.science.nyc, Bob and Shirley’s, and numerous other events.

Noise Solutions (@saintrosa) will perform an experimental live set, transforming real time signals from nearby planes into ambient drones using custom-developed software.

We encourage you to bring blankets or chairs for comfortable seating and your preferred food or drink. While the event is free, we’ll be collecting donations for the Shawaa Emergency Fund in Gaza.

Full event details can be found on our website: solarsystem.nyc.

Thanks everyone for coming out to our third installment of Solar System a couple weeks back. ☀️

It was a perfect day and we were treated to an ethereal live performance by @e_sobolik and an appropriately sunny dj set from @ayannaheaven.

We raised $930 for Shawaa Emergency Fund, which is collecting donations to purchase water deliveries for refugees in Gaza, among other relief efforts.

We hope to see you next week on Saturday, June 29th. Details to come! taken in Highland Park, Brooklyn by @aaaaaaaaarontripp

Hello friends!

We’re pleased to announce the return of SOLAR SYSTEM this Sunday, June 9th, in Highland Park, Queens from 2-7 PM. This will be the first of three events this summer (Saturday, June 29th + Sunday, July 21st). Full event details are on our website: solarsystem.nyc

For this opening installment, @ayannaheaven will be on the decks, a Jamaican-bred, Brooklyn-based DJ, radio host, and curator whose eclectic selections reflect her background in ethnomusicology. Whether on-air (@thelotradio, @wkcr ,@rovr_live ) or at her many local residencies (@loversrocknyc, @bembebrooklyn), Ayanna’s sets find the common threads between roots and rocksteady reggae, afrobeats, hip-hop, dancehall, and funk.

Playing live will be @e_sobolik, a Brooklyn-based DJ and producer who creates dynamic and bouncy percussion-driven tracks. Sobolik’s music, which has been released on numerous labels including @kindergarten_ny, @all_centre, @earlyreflex, @woozy_dub, @sorry_records, and @audiobambino reflects their deep understanding of rhythm and its effect on the body. While primarily known for their club-focused work, they recently unveiled a new, fully-improvised, live ambient set last month at LSD. We’re excited to hear it outside under the sun.

We encourage you to bring blankets or chairs for comfortable seating and your preferred food or drink. While the event is free, we’ll be collecting donations for the Shawaa Emergency Fund in Gaza. by @aaaaaaaaarontripp

by @aaaaaaaaarontripp

I know y’all have been asking… we’re now ready to announce the second installment of @solarsystem.nyc this Sunday, August 27th in Highland Park, Queens!

At the heart of SOLAR SYSTEM is a one-of-a-kind hi-fi system (by @echoic.systems) operating entirely off the grid. Powered by batteries charged with solar energy and buttressed by on-site panels, SOLAR SYSTEM’s parties rise and fall with the sun, offering a glimpse of a more sustainable musical future.

On deck for our second outing are two special live sets: Promoter (@jxpoll) crafts engulfing sonic atmospheres which call to mind the heyday of 90s dub techno. They recently released ‘Cogitate’ on @patienceimpatience and frequently grace the label’s show on @thelotradio as the enigmatic "Image Man," weaving in rare gems from their time working at @a1recordshop.

@casualsalad is the moniker of experimental musician, sound artist and earplug activist Chirag Davé. Her live performances walk a fine line between order and chaos, weaving modular synths, voice, guitar, and field recordings together into soundscapes which reference free jazz, improvisation, mindful listening, noise, and drone music.

Rounding out the afternoon will be DJ sets from @solarsytem.nyc’s resident hosts, audio engineers, and solar technicians: @aaaaaaaaarontripp and @abelsonlive.

Bring a blanket, water, and your friends/pets.

Set times:

1-4 Solar Soundsystem
4-4:30 Casual Salad
5-5:40 Promoter
5:40-7 Solar Soundsystem
