AAL Studio presents The Curatorial Collective, featuring @kalaforum ✨

The Curatorial Collective is one of AAL’s core initiatives — a programme built to nurture curatorial voices in Kerala by handing collectives the room to experiment. We open up our space, a working budget, and our platform, and back them fully as they shape something entirely their own: a showing, a workshop series, a residency, a new format altogether.

This September, we’re honoured to open that space to @kalaforum, a woman-run collective, as they curate a season of movement, music, storytelling, and community at AAL.

Lineup dropping soon 👀

Twinkle is a heartwarming storytelling musical performance that premiered at Katha Konfluence. It is the story of a woman, gently narrated by two men who bring her world alive through verse, music, and vivid imagery.

‘Eadu…unopened’ at Solo 1.2.3. as part of Katha Konfluence where three artists from distinct languages of movement gave shape to their stories:)

@craftivist.deviramy’s piece is about life after trauma, not a single moment, but its afterlife. With nuanced abhinaya, she moves through the shifting emotional terrain that a survivor carries and journeys through in everyday life.

‘In the making’ at Solo 1.2.3. as part of Katha Konfluence where three artists from distinct languages of movement gave shape to their stories:)

@ranj_ramachandran is a beautiful Kathak artist who questions the form even as she belongs to it, a reflection of her ongoing creative journey as she continues to find her path.

‘Where are you from?’ at Solo 1.2.3. as part of Katha Konfluence where three artists from distinct languages of movement gave shape to their stories:)

With remarkable fluidity, poetry and ease in her movement, Snigdha brings deeply personal stories of what home means to the audience.

BUILD, a toddler theatre performance by @toystoytheatre at Katha Konfluence!

Build was a very special performance where little ones aged 2 to 5 watched, listened, and finally played with their parents, performers, the adults around them, and each other. They created little worlds from clay. Thank you to all the children, and to the adults who brought out the child in them, for being there.
