The Atelier Architecture logo is an uppercase “A” filled with stained glass. The design pays homage to the artistic features incorporated in spiritual spaces and their proximity to God’s architectural nature.

The sun rays resting at the bottom of the “A”, reaffirm that we are at our best when we are vessels of light. by @aarchtect

The Interdenominational Chapel for Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama designed in 1960 by Paul Rudolph and the African-American firm of John A. Welch and Louis Fry (both Welch and Fry were former Tuskegee Institute Faculty members).

“The chapel is psychologically a fortress for Tuskegee Institute. Most of the light is brought into the interior from overhead to increase the feeling of security and stability. The non-parallel walls and hyperbolic paraboloid roof assist the acoustical quality of the chapel. The simple space expands itself to form side chapels and entrances in an overlapping and spiraling manner.”

As the curtains close on this amazing experience co-curating “Forget Me Not”, I want to share this sweet moment I got to experience with Marlon @marlontobiasart from opening day.

We met last summer and instantly bonded over his research and our HBCU experiences. Such a pleasure to have him in one of my first Chicago exhibitions (and before he is displayed in museums globally). 🙂‍↕️ #BlackArt

Over the past two semesters, I have experienced the most rewarding collaboration which resulted in “Forget Me Not” — an exhibition curated in partnership with Epiphany Center for the Arts and SAIC’s MAAAP Program.

Helena, Izzy, Serena, and myself poured a lot of time into this show and had a common goal of introducing emerging and mid-career artists to new audiences.

I begin my curatorial career with heavy consideration of the way in which art is perceived and how architecture plays a role in that.

Showcased Artists:
Bianca Pastel: @biancapastel
Marlon Tobias: @marlontobiasart
Bailey Ellens: @somethinforbreakfast
Alayna Pernell: @alaynapernell
Juan Molina Hernández: @juanmolinahernandez
