A little video from our travels this past summer.

After Aaron completed a pediatrics elective at a hospital in Kazakhstan, we set off to explore 7 countries across 2 continents — wandering for two months through England, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Georgia.

We slept in yurts, tried horse milk, trekked for days on horseback through mountain jailoos, explored 600-year-old madrasas, met wonderful friends, tried fresh spices in bazaars, and crossed deserts in 50-degree heat on Soviet-era trains.

It was an incredible adventure, and I feel so lucky to be exploring the world alongside @aaron_prosper . He is the sweetest travel companion. by @aaron_prosper

Excited to share that Mackenzie Pardy and I will be exhibiting Amalkewinu’k again this coming fall! Everyone is welcome!

Dates: October 1 to December 12, 2026

Official opening: October 1st @ 7pm (TBC)

Location: St FX Art Gallery

Link: https://www.stfx.ca/art-gallery/upcoming-exhibitions

Description:

“Amalkewinu’k (The Dancers)” explores the evolution of Mi’kmaw regalia through a blend of contemporary and historical photographs, emphasizing its cultural, artistic, and ceremonial significance. Featuring studio portraits of Mi’kmaw community members in regalia alongside archival images, the exhibition highlights the transformation and ongoing relevance of regalia Mi’kmaw traditions. By presenting distinctively Mi’kmaw regalia, it challenges misconceptions about Indigenous cultural uniformity and celebrates Mi’kmaw artistic heritage - honouring both past and present community artists who continue to preserve these essential traditions.

This exhibition is generously sponsored by the Deveau Institute for Indigenous Governance and Social Justice.

“Amalkewinu’k” first opened at the Treaty Space Gallery in February 2025 before travelling to Acadia University, where it was exhibited in October 2025. The exhibition received extensive media coverage from CBC News, Visual Arts News, APTN, We Are All Treaty People, Indigenous WatchDog, and other outlets.

We also wanted to thank Andrea Terry, the St FX Art Gallery, the Deveau Institute for Indigenous Governance and Social Justice, and all of the community members who have been a part of our project, for making this exhibit possible! by @aaron_prosper
