Used the sad music cuz I’m just missing ya 😩😭 the Fellows retreat was life changing. Being on the land, in ceremony, and just laughing together was so healing. The hope that you young ones gave me was such a gift. This was the embodiment of wahkohtowin. All of these lovely humans made this trip so special, and I’m very much missing them all. I’m so grateful we get to be a part of this @mastercardfoundation program together, and I’m counting down the days until I see you again. Kipatahotin.

A little video from our travels this past summer.

After Aaron completed a pediatrics elective at a hospital in Kazakhstan, we set off to explore 7 countries across 2 continents — wandering for two months through England, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Georgia.

We slept in yurts, tried horse milk, trekked for days on horseback through mountain jailoos, explored 600-year-old madrasas, met wonderful friends, tried fresh spices in bazaars, and crossed deserts in 50-degree heat on Soviet-era trains.

It was an incredible adventure, and I feel so lucky to be exploring the world alongside @aaron_prosper . He is the sweetest travel companion.

Kinu Tourism Project was proud to be part of the NSITEN Conference—an inspiring few days of learning, connecting, and giving back through volunteering 🤝✨

We were honoured to attend the Awards Gala, celebrating the incredible achievements within our communities, and to experience powerful live performances by Alan Syliboy and the Thundermakers and Aaron Googoo 🎶🪶

Moments like these remind us of the strength of our culture, the importance of community, and the bright future of Indigenous tourism. Wela’liek to everyone who made it so special! 💙🧡

Today is the fifth marking of National Truth and Reconciliation Day - an annual commemoration honouring the children who were kidnapped, abused and murdered while attending residential schools and the survivors, families and communities still affected today.

We urge people to reflect on these histories and realities by learning from Indigenous peoples, community leaders, art and artists, cultural teachings and recognize the very real ongoing need for reconciliation, accurate representation and celebration of Indigenous experiences across Canada.

Over the years, various Indigenous artists have contributed to Visual Arts Nova Scotia and Visual Arts News as writers, photographers, editor, makers, curators and much more.
Swipe to see a selection of some of these beautiful contributions and visit the link in our bio for more of what is going on in the community for National Truth and Reconciliation Day🧡🔗
