“Rugged Yolk” By Thrifty Embellishments Poncho light denim, pearl snaps button up provided by my friend, @aaronhenderson12 for this custom collaboration • embellished with appliqué material sourced from a thrifted Susan Bristol heavy canvas skirt • made in the USA • a one of one piece 🤙 I was struck by the patterned weight of this material draped and woven into the shoulders of the denim. Life’s ups and downs, peaks and valleys, joys and sorrows are a “rugged yolk” we all must carry over time. Seemingly to me, the best we can do is attempt to integrate these experiences into a deeper understanding, a worldview, a fleeting attempt to make sense of the world around and within us. Pattern recognition is a major tool for me in trying to embrace this. Dependable natural cycles, fractal geometry as microscopic as cosmic, symbols worth a thousand words, daily sun and moon, life • death • regeneration, and all the rest that bring a sense of hope in a complicated world. All this in an embellished shirt?
