Building boys into MEN taken in Baltimore, Maryland by @aaronmaybin

To say you don’t have political beliefs is one of the most cowardice statements that a Black man could ever make. We can choose not to do politics if we want, but there’s no question about whether or not politics has been DOING us for generations. We gotta pick a side at some point. No more playing the 50. taken in Baltimore, Maryland by @aaronmaybin

For those that are asking what we should be doing right now to improve the material conditions of our people….

There is one answer to the question that has never changed. And the most important investment that we could be making is into our youth.

We need to be meeting them where they are and teaching them the tools & skills necessary to navigate the minefield of what it means to grow up and Achieve while Black in America.

Here in West Baltimore, we are training our young Black and Brown boys to be comprehensive men that will uplift and restore our community. Frederick Douglas said it best, “it’s easier to build strong boys than to repair broken men.” by @aaronmaybin

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been very psychologically and spiritually drained since getting the news about Khloe‘s death. My heart goes out to her family, friends, and everyone in her community that loved her.

Since when have the spaces where our children play not been sacred ground? How is it that events where our youth are supposed to be able to let go of their trauma, burdens, and apprehensions to just be kids are now becoming spaces where grown men feel comfortable, fighting, shooting, and terrorizing our own community?

A 12 year-old girl has now lost her life and other victims are still fighting for life. Families are grieving, a community is bleeding, and all those that were in attendance will carry the memories and trauma of this experience with them for the rest of their lives. Shout out to the people in the community who responded immediately to the situation and did everything they could to try and save lives. But now we all carry the burden of reckoning with wreckage of what this means for our city and our communities in our Quest to completely transform how we address public safety in Baltimore.

This isn’t something that we can lay at the feet of our Mayor or any of our policy makers. We can’t blame this on policing or any of the structural issues that plague our community. This situation Right here is one of our own making, as a community and as a society.

If the men that got into that altercation that led to the shooting were able to emotionally regulate themselves, Khloe is still alive. If we didn’t feel the need to perform our broken perception of masculinity for any audience in any space at any time she’s still alive. And the fact that she isn’t here to experience this outpouring of love on her behalf isn’t just unacceptable, it’s a societal failure. And we have to wrestle with that as men within our community. We failed her. We failed to create an environment where she could come to a football game and make it home alive.

The executive director of a Baltimore redevelopment authority is under fire after a video surfaced showing him in a heated confrontation with local artists at a board meeting.

Chad Williams, the founding executive director of the West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA), was filmed at a meeting held in a college library as community members demanded answers about contracts they say were not honored and work they say they were never paid for.

The video, posted by artist and activist Aaron Maybin, shows Williams speaking to Chinyer, described as one of the Baltimore art scene’s most valued members, in what commenters called a dismissive and aggressive tone including cursing at her. Maybin contrasted how Williams spoke to her with how he addressed the men in the room.

But the confrontation is only the latest chapter. According to reporting by the Baltimore Beat, Williams was hired in 2022 despite a troubled record in Nevada, where he ran the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority during a federal investigation into how he handled sexual misconduct complaints against his second-in-command. He was placed on paid leave and pushed out.

The Beat also reported that Williams was charged with felony and misdemeanor battery in Las Vegas after allegedly “punching a sleeping woman, throwing her to the ground and kicking her in the ribs and face,” and later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence — while actively serving as WNADA’s director.

In Nevada, the agency paid more than $125,000 in settlements to two women who had worked under him.

The Beat’s 2025 reporting brought former WNADA employees’ allegations of stalking and harassment dating back to 2023. A 25-page internal investigation described his “authoritarian” leadership as a threat to employees’ “psychological safety” but called for no firing, and the board has taken no disciplinary action.

Four women have filed formal complaints, according to an active petition demanding his removal.

WNADA’s board has not publicly responded to the confrontation.

I want you to pay close attention to how this man is talking to Chinyer, one of the Baltimore‘s art scenes’ most valuable members. The man talking to her is Chad Williams, the executive director of the W. North Ave.Development Authority (WNADA).

Chinyer and other members of our creative community showed up at one of their board meetings today to get important questions answered about contracts that have not been honored to many Artists, creatives, and small business owners locally here in Baltimore for services rendered.

I want you to pay close attention to how he tries to handle our sister. Watch how he’s talking to this Black woman and then how he addresses the men in the space. That should tell you everything you need to know about his character and the kind of man he is.

Not only is he deflecting from her arguments by trying to profess the lie that all of these articles are from Fox News (check out the amazing reporting on him by the Baltimore BEAT)he’s also trying to bully her into submission. He’s trying to intimidate her. He’s trying to silence her. He cusses at her repeatedly, in a college library. He’s over-talking her instead of listening when he has done actual harm to her and many others through lack of payment for her services and not honoring contracts.

What you’re looking at isn’t leadership. It’s the actions of a coward. It’s not the behavior of a person that is peaceful or non-combative. This is a wanna-be-tough guy trying to avoid accountability. This is not a member of our village. This is an outsider who has very clearly unhinged ways of communicating and attempting to assert himself in a situation where he has no real power.

When he accepted his job back in 2023, he was hired despite previously being the subject of a federal investigation over his handling of sexual harassment complaints at a Nevada housing Authority, he was accused of sexual harassment at two different workplaces and convicted of domestic violence while actively leading an agency in Baltimore. by @aaronmaybin

Bikes Build Bonds. Black youth advocating for the ability to safely ride dirt bikes in Baltimore should make us all proud. These are not “troublemakers” in the way that mainstream media often depicts Black youth. These are serious advocates for their community.
